Bottom line

Zamberlan’s 252 Yeren GTX RR received admiration for its comfortable confines and satisfying lightness. It was also commended for its sufficient ankle support. Not to mention, its quality construction was applauded too. Nevertheless, these admirable traits were not enough to cover up a couple of mishaps. Zamberlan’s 252 Yeren GTX RR is a reasonably true-to-size watertight hiking boot for men and women. It is offered in standard width and regular sizes. Its closure system is a lace-up type which permits fit customization.

This footgear uses the ZSPH last which creates a high volume in the foot flex point and a pronounced heel to ankle line. It delivers a technical and comfy fit simultaneously. The women’s version is incorporated with the ZLF last which offers a supported instep, high arch, roomy forefoot, and tapered rearfoot.

The Zamberlan 252 Yeren GTX RR wears the Vibram Futura outsole. This rubber outsole renders traction on most types of terrain. Its multiangular lugs grant 360-degree traction. The boots along the side of the sole also provide steadiness on bumpy grounds. The ridged heel area assists the wearers in descents.

This mid-cut day hiking boot uses a double-density ethylene-vinyl acetate or EVA wedge for its midsole. It grants lightweight cushioning. To create ample rigidity and support, a TPU stabilizer is added underfoot. Cradling the hiker’s foot and providing arch support is a 3 mm nylon + PE insole.

The 252 Yeren GTX RR has a 1.8 mm - 2.0 mm suede leather upper. It is pretreated with Hydrobloc to amplify its water-repellency and extend its life. Its interior is lined with a Gore-Tex Extended Comfort laminate which makes the boot waterproof and breathable.

The forefoot and heel regions are reinforced with a rubber rand to protect against rock-strewn trails. Its closure system (consisting of webbing loops, metal hooks and a round lace) aids in fit management. Lastly, to facilitate easy on and off, tabs are attached at the top of the tongue and back of the boot.
