Good to know
Stability and motion control add-ons are uncommon for workout shoes and are never present in CrossFit or weightlifting footwear. They are mostly found in walking shoes where the gait is easier to correct.
Training footwear typically weighs between 200g and 300g per shoe to accommodate agile workouts. Minimalist trainers go as low as 150g, while weightlifting shoes can go as high as 500g.

- The Vionic Thrill is crafted for women who need a well-performing yet casually styled shoe for daily walks and running errands. Ladies can choose between leather and cow suede as this model comes in both variations. The leather one is available in white, while the suede option is offered in grey, light pink, and black.
- A single dual-density unit incorporates the outsole, the midsole, and the insole of the shoe. It helps in keeping the platform lightweight and dynamic. The unit slightly protrudes up on the medial side, contouring the arch of the foot to prevent overpronation.
- The sole also features the 1st Ray technology. It makes sure that the trainer bends in the same area where the natural foot flexion occurs – just behind the big toe.
The Vionic Thrill is available in women’s sizes only. The range goes from US 5 to 11, including whole and half sizes. Widthwise, the shoe is offered in a standard B – Medium profile. This model tends to run long, so it may be necessary to order a half size smaller. It is also designed with a relaxed toe box to offer extra space for the freedom of forefoot movement.
The bottom of the Vionic Thrill employs a durable rubber compound. Identical to the one in the Vionic Elation, the unit features separate pods of various shapes and sizes. Such design renders protection and grip in the right areas without compromising the weight and pliability of the platform. Horizontal flex grooves run between the pods. They make the sole bend along with the foot.
A full-length EVA compound creates a cushiony buffer between the foot and the ground. It absorbs shock upon impact, protecting the foot and joints.
The unit features the 1st Ray technology in the forefoot section to promote natural foot flexibility. It makes the area of the big-toe joint soft and bendy. That way the foot is able to flex in the same spot it does when it’s shoeless. This ability improves underfoot control, helping the forefoot feel more stable.
The top part of the sole is designed with a contoured arch. It creates orthopedic underfoot support which helps in keeping a healthy alignment of the foot. It also prevents the foot from excessively rolling inwards, or overpronating.
The insole is made of air-infused memory foam for added comfort. It serves to keep the interiors fresh. The insert is not removable.
Depending on the color, the Vionic Thrill comes in two upper variations: a suede one and a leather one. Both materials lend a casual look to the sporty construction of the footwear. They are meant to provide the foot with a structured yet smooth support.
In both leather and suede variations, the material is perforated to render breathability. Additional leather/suede overlays are placed around the toe box, the eyestay, the quarters, and the heel for extra support in these areas.
Inside the shoe, a foam-backed fabric lining wraps the foot in a soft hug to prevent chafing. It also has a breathable nature to aerate the foot chamber and keep the wearer comfortable.
The shoe employs a traditional lace-up closure to adjust the fit. A combination of punched and webbed eyelets helps in achieving the right level of tightness and pressure across the midfoot.
The Vionic Thrill is recommended by Dr. Andrew Weil, a renowned American physician and a guru of the holistic approach to health.
