From everything I could tell, I think they're gonna be alright. They fit just like my old ones did.
I’ll be reaching for my Sundowners when I am out for longer trips with a heavy pack, because I know they’ll offer me tons of stability and support.
- The revamped Vasque Sundowner GTX still features a one-piece leather construction which maintains its classic look. It now has an S.B Foot leather backed with a Gore-Tex lining for a balance of durability and breathability.
- It is equipped with the Vasque Pyrenees outsole, a modern-day replication of the original sole. It features an aggressive lug pattern for ground traction.
- The cushioning from the midsole and insole comes from a polyurethane foam. The TPU stabilizer yields rigidity.
- The sole unit has a rockered profile. It facilitates a more efficient stride.
The Vasque Sundowner GTX is a backpacking boot for men and women. It comes in regular sizes and is shaped using the Sundowner last. Its straight-lined design includes a low volume at the heel to keep the foot in place. This construction prevents unnecessary movement inside the boot, reducing friction or hot spots. Additionally, this boot comes in standard and wide widths.
Using the brand-owned Pyrenees rubber outsole, the Sundowner GTX offers traction on most terrain types. It has self-cleaning lugs to prevent mud from building up on the sole. A cambered heel and slightly curved toe area work together to promote a smoother stride.
This mid-cut backpacking boot features a polyurethane (PU) foam midsole. This brings a comfortable environment through its lightweight cushioning and durability. Vasque also added a TPU midfoot stabilizer to prevent twisting of the foot.
The Vasque Sundowner GTX uses a 2.4 mm S.B Foot leather. Its one-piece construction means fewer seams for greater comfort and durability. Underneath is a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort laminate for breathability and waterproofing. It also offers modest insulation.
The shoe has a traditional closure consisting of D-rings, speed hooks and flat laces. This set enables a straightforward and fast lacing up.
