Bottom line

Potterheads rejoiced when Vans dropped its Harry Potter Collection 2019. Part of the collection is two reinterpretations of the classic Vans Slip-On with designs inspired by the Hufflepuff house and the Marauder's Map.

While most reviewers were overjoyed with the Marauder’s Map version and its clever design details, some believed that the Hufflepuff version could be a lot more than how it is presented. These slip-ons need some time to break in but get comfortable over time. Although priced a bit higher than the regular Vans Slip-On shoe, this special edition is still affordable.

The Vans x Harry Potter Slip-On, like most Vans low-top sneakers, is a unisex shoe model that comes in men’s sizes ranging from US 3.5 to 13 in standard width which is equivalent to sizes 5 to 14.5 for women.

Since these Harry Potter sneakers are based on the classic Vans Slip-On silhouette, they feature a low-top slip-on profile that allows versatility, comfort, and convenience. There are elastic side goring for easy on and off wearing.

The Vans x Harry Potter Slip-On shoes come in two colorways. One represents the Hufflepuff with a black textile as base upper material that displays a Hufflepuff embroidery on the toe box and yellow accents on the elastic side accents, insoles, and inner linings.

The other colorway is a nod to the Marauder’s Map. The sturdy cream-colored textile upper dons an allover print of the said map with custom collaboration details throughout.

The Vans x Harry Potter Slip-On retains the signature features of the iconic Slip-On from the Off the Wall brand – minimal construction, slip-on profile, and flexible rubber outsole. Each of the two colorways of this special release boasts interesting design details that represent the magical world of Harry Potter.

  Vans Hufflepuff Slip-On

The Vans Hufflepuff Slip-On is one of the understated models from the Vans x Harry Potter 2019 collection. Unlike the versions of the Authentic, Era, or SK8-Hi, it features a simple and straightforward aesthetic that reflects the black and yellow theme of the Hufflepuff house from Harry Potter.

The low-top shoe dons an all-black textile upper that sits atop a clean, white midsole. On the toe box is an embroidered Hufflepuff logo crest and text, while yellow accents are visible on the elastic side goring and inner linings. The insoles are yellow, too, and feature both brandings of Harry Potter and Vans.

  Vans Marauder’s Map Slip-On

One interesting pair from the Vans x Harry Potter 2019 collection is the Vans Marauder’s Map Slip-On. Unlike the Hufflepuff rendition, this one is full of details.

The cream-colored textile upper dons a Marauder’s Map print throughout, with subtle yet clever details that reference to the famed HP map. A “Mischief Managed” text is visible at the heel, while the rubber lining displays the “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” The insoles, on the other hand, feature checkerboard print and Harry Potter and Vans' brandings.

One of the most iconic and classic models from the California skate shoe brand Vans is the Vans Slip-On. It first released in 1977 as the Style #98 and instantly gained popularity in the skateboarding, surf, BMX communities because of its versatility, functionality, and on-point style. To this day, the Vans Slip-On remains a bestseller low-top sneaker from Vans.

In June 2019, Vans dropped a highly-anticipated and exclusive Harry Potter collection of apparel and footwear. The sneakers lineup includes four different classic Vans silhouettes, such as the Authentic, the Era, the SK8-Hi, and the Slip-On.

Each of the shoe in the collection boasts a design inspired by a Hogwarts House. The Gryffindor for the SK8-Hi, Slytherin for the Era, Ravenclaw for the Authentic, and Hufflepuff for the Slip-On. Aside from the Hufflepuff colorway, the Vans x Harry Potter Slip-On sneakers also come in a Marauder's Map colorway.

  • The Vans x Harry Potter Slip-On also features a vulcanized sole, original waffle outsole, and molded EVA footbed.
