The SK8-Hi was embraced not only by the skaters but also by young generations as it was used as their blank canvas for self-expression. Vans factory was also opened in customizing the Sk8-Hi and let their buyers choose their preferred materials and designs.

The SK8-Hi was able to invade the music domain which helped the brand to advance its popularity among the skaters and all other fashionistas. Despite the recognition, the SK8-Hi remained faithful to the classic facets, like the canvas and suede upper with the iconic Sidestripe. However, in the 80s, Vans broaden the eyestay and incorporated perforations to deliver comfier and more durable sneaker.
