Vans Pop Camo Old Skool History

Initially called the Style #36, the Old Skool was the first Vans skate shoe to incorporate leather on its upper and the first shoe to display the brand’s iconic side stripe. For these reasons, the Old Skool became a hit among skaters and a notable Vans model.

Recently, with the rise of the streetwear trend, the Old Skool experienced another bout of popularity among the youth. Stocks of the original Old Skool and some of its iterations would quickly sell out as soon as it reaches the shelves. This resurgence of the Old Skool’s fame paved the way for more contemporary versions. One of them is the Vans Old Skool Pop Camo.

The shoe’s upper is predominantly crafted from suede with a camo-printed midfoot canvas panel. It is solely available in one color aptly named the “Pop Camo,” more specifically Black/ Spicy Orange/ True White.

Vans Pop Camo Old Skool Style

Building on its older sibling's iconic silhouette, the low-top Vans Pop Camo Old Skool adds fun and military-inspired twist to the line. The shoe's pop of vibrant orange camo could elevate a rather boring outfit and add an interesting focal point to any look. To make the sneaker stand out, even more, pairing it with a monochromatic ensemble is recommended.

Fit & Sizing

The Vans Pop Camo Old Skool is a unisex sneaker that’s offered in both men and women’s sizes. The guys can select from sizes 3.5 to 13 while the ladies can choose from 5 to 14.5. It generally fits accordingly, though most of the respondents disclosed that the shoe fits larger than standard sizes and recommended going half a size down. It features a traditional lace-up system and metal eyelets for an adjustable lockdown fit and added durability.

Notable Features

Apart from its classic and recognizable design, this sneaker’s main attraction is its orange-tinted, camouflage-printed upper accent. Thanks to today’s latest streetwear trend that utilizes this military-born print, a lot of consumers have found the Vans Pop Camo Old Skool very attractive.

The Old Skool’s traditional and time-tested construction also contributes a lot to its popularity. The classic combination of cushioned footbeds and padded ankle collars provide comfort and cushioning while vulcanized rubber midsoles offer flexibility and excellent board feel. Lastly, its iconic waffle rubber outsole is well-loved for its grip and traction.
