The unisex low-top Vans Checker Flame Classic Slip-On is available in both US men’s and women’s sizes. Males can order sizes from 3.5 to 13 while female sizes start from 5 to 14.5. Its canvas upper provides breathability and flexibility while its slip-on profile offers an easy on and off wear.

The design of the Vans Checker Flame Classic Slip-On is all about flair and distinction. Its flame-shaped detail separates the vivid red color scheme and the checkerboard pattern on the toe box. The majority of the wearers are all about adorations when it comes to the style of the sneaker, and rightfully so. Pair it with dark-washed ripped jeans to bring out its flashy vibe.

Grip and traction for this shoe are possible because of the trademark rubber waffle outsole, which is also utilized in many Vans sneakers. Whether on the skate or the roads, this outsole is arguably the best the brand has to offer.

Originally labeled as “Vans Style #98”, the Vans Slip-On was introduced in 1977 which immediately became a fan-favorite because of its easy slip-on profile and pristine design. The son of the founder, Steve Van Doren noticed that during the 70s, the wearers of the Vans Slip-On colored the midsole with pens to make a checkerboard pattern. Realizing this trend, he designed the Slip-On with the pattern on the canvas upper.

A popular 1982 movie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, helped to elevate the recognition of the Vans Slip-On. Sean Penn's character donned the shoe which he himself chose as it aligned with his character's personality. The sneaker was featured on the movie's trailer, and just like that, many people went on a rush to cop a pair.

The Vans Checker Classic Slip-On has been a fixture on the closet for a lot of people since its inception. Regardless of gender, age, race, or interests, the low-top is widely regarded as a timeless classic, and many reiterations of it were released over the years. One of the recent additions to the Vans Classic Slip-On collection is the Vans Checker Flame Classic Slip-On, which was introduced in 2018. So far, there is only one color scheme available.

  • Currently, the only color scheme for the Vans Checker Flame Classic Slip-On is the Racing Red True White.
  • The Vans Authentic Checkerboard Flame has the same design as this shoe but in a black variant.
