Who should buy the Under Armour TriBase Reign
Under Armour utilized various materials and merged them, producing a CrossFit trainer that offers supportive structure, responsiveness, and reliability during rigorous workouts. TriBase Reign is a solid prospect if:
- You are looking for a shoe that provides not only outstanding functionalities and performance of a CrossFit WODs companion but has a truly appealing design.
- Your training routines involve gym activities and ropes and you are after a pair that provides sufficient grip to carry out those activities with less trouble.
The Under Armour TriBase Reign's outsole
The Under Armour TriBase Reign features a full-length rubber outsole. It is hardwearing, thereby preventing an early breakdown of the midsole. The TriBase technology refers to the three zones of the outsole. The forefoot features flex grooves that help with the upward and downward movements of the feet.
Anti-toe slippage
The construction of the rubber under the toes prevents slipping during push-ups and burpees. As for the sides of the TriBase, they are able to aid in torsional flexing that happens during quick lateral cuts.
Abrasion-resistant components
The rubber wraps the medial and lateral sides of the shoe at the midfoot. This element protects the midsole and a section of the upper from abrasion during rope climbs.
Enhanced platform stability
This pair of Under Armour training shoes is equipped with the Micro G midsole. This foam technology is 30% thinner than conventional foam, delivering a low-to-the-ground disposition which helps in keeping the foot stable.
Despite its thin appearance, its shock attenuation properties are similar to those of thicker platforms. It compresses but quickly bounces back to its original form for an explosive take-off. The 2-mm offset positions the heel only slightly higher than the ball of the foot. This low elevation is common for CrossFit shoes because it helps keep the rearfoot steady, especially during weight training.
Inside the trainer is a non-removable insole. It prevents slippage and enhances the shock absorption of the midsole.
Ventilated upper
The Under Armour TriBase Reign employs the ripstop material for its upper. Ripstop is a type of fabric that has reinforcement threads interwoven into it at regular intervals making it both tear- and rip-resistant. The forefoot and the lateral quarter use a durable mesh with abundant perforations, keeping the interior ventilated.
The Under Armour TriBase Reign's overlays
Synthetic overlays line the toe box, the eyestay, and part of the medial side of the midfoot. They amplify the durability of the underlying fabric, preventing it from disintegrating quickly.
Snug lacing system
A lace-up closure allows users to adjust the midfoot fit. It does not have a plush interior, but the upper molds onto feet for a secure foothold.
Stabilized rearfoot section
There’s a plastic component that is attached at the heel and rises to about a third of the rearfoot. It acts as an external heel cup that keeps the back of the foot steady during dynamic movements.
