7 reasons to buy

  • A lot of users say that the UA Rocket feels very comfortable. One even comments that wearing them feels like “walking on air.”
  • Like the Anta KT 4, several wearers say that these Under Armour basketball shoes do not need any break-in time, adding that you can play in them straight out of the box.
  • Majority of the reviewers agree that the traction of the Rocket is the shoe’s highlight as it performs very well on both clean and dusty indoor courts. One tester even compares it with other basketball shoes such as the Kobe Mentality 2, Kobe 9, or Kyrie 2 that are known for their high-performing outsoles.
  • The materials in the upper are described as lightweight, soft, and breathable. A number of testers say that the shoe feels like the Under Armour Micro G Torch.
  • Due to the Micro G foam used in the shoe’s cushioning, many are happy with the type of impact protection that the Rocket provides.
  • A lot of buyers remark that the Under Armour Rocket and its materials are durable. One shares that after four months of using the shoes, they still feel new.
  • A couple of users think that the Under Armour Rocket is “super stylish,” adding that they love how they can use the basketball sneaker both on and off the court.

4 reasons not to buy

  • Most of the wearers notice that the shoe’s outsole attracts dust; however, they agree that it is not to the point where it needs constant wiping.
  • Several players say that the Rocket’s upper is prone to scuffing. It also creases easily at the forefoot.
  • A few testers comment that the cushion feels quite firm despite being Micro G. One reviewer, however, believes that once the midsole gets broken in, the foam will eventually gain its bounciness.
  • Some feel that the UA Rocket’s materials look cheap. Commenters have the same complaint about the Nike PG 3.

Bottom line

Overall, the Under Armour Rocket receives positive feedback in terms of the shoe’s exceptional traction, comfortable cushioning, and its upper’s breathability. Although a few feel that the shoe lacked in aesthetics, its performance on court pretty much makes up for it. At only $100 per pair, you are bound to get your money’s worth.

The Under Armour Rocket is the first installment of the Rocket line. Although a budget model, the shoe features a just-as-effective herringbone traction pattern, an upper that feels like the Clutchfit, and the much-loved Micro G cushion.

Cushion. The shoe has full-length Micro G cushioning in its midsole. Step-in comfort is amplified by its foot-conforming Micro G sockliner.

Traction. The UA Rocket’s outsole features a full-length herringbone pattern that supports both lateral and linear movements. It’s safe to use the shoe outdoors since it’s made of solid rubber and the grooves on the tread pattern are deep.

Length and Width. The Under Armour Rocket fits true to size. The shoe is a standard D width, while the length is of UA’s regular size. It is recommended that you go with your normal shoe size when purchasing.

Lockdown. The shoe’s secure fit is ensured by its traditional lacing system, internal shoe padding, and molded foam on the ankle collar.

The UA Rocket’s  upper is made of a pliable and soft synthetic leather. Ventilation holes can be found on the shoe’s lateral and medial sides while knitted mesh is used for the tongue and some parts of the heel to increase the shoe’s breathability further.

Although differing density, the midsole and, sockliner are both made of Micro G, while the outsole is composed of solid rubber.

A padded mesh detailing is added in the shoe’s heel area, giving the Under Armour Rocket another dimension. The UA logo can be found on the heel counter, lateral forefoot, and outsole.

Since the silhouette of the shoe is similar to UA’s other basketball sneaker shapes, its use of color blocking is what really sets the UA Rocket apart. These Under Armour basketball shoes come in different colorways, and the most popular ones are black and red.
