The Drive 4 Premium uses the same technologies as the original version’s midsole and outsole such as the sticky herringbone pattern and the Micro G and EVA combination. Under Armour goes a mile further by replacing the mesh and neoprene upper with a leather and suede mix.
Cushion. The shoe provides plush landing through the Micro G at the heel. EVA foam then takes the stage at the forefoot as it makes possible explosive take-offs and a low-to-the-ground feel. A softer EVA insole lines the inside of the shoe for step-in comfort.
Traction. A thick and widely spaced herringbone pattern runs throughout the shoe’s outsole. The outsole uses solid rubber, making the shoe fit for outdoor hoopers. Regardless of the court conditions, the sole grips the ground really well. Moreover, it needs little to no wiping.
Length and Width. There are varied reviews on the shoe’s sizing. However, several wearers notice that shoe runs small. Many users recommend going half a size up, but trying the shoe in-store is still advised to get the most comfortable fit.
Lockdown. Containment is provided by the shoe’s two-layer sturdy upper and the external heel counter. Both keep the foot locked in place while the shoe’s flat and wide base provides stability.
Instead of the woven mesh and neoprene combination, the Premium model features suede and leather. Leather constitutes the inner cleatie while the suede material makes up the external layer. Perforations run across the tongue to provide breathability. The upper is also overlaid with rubber to protect high-wear areas from scuffing.
A molded TPU ankle collar is integrated into the design for structural support and added lockdown. A Micro G foam that is encased in an EVA cushion is placed at the heel. The outsole is made of solid rubber.
The high-top silhouette of the Drive 4 Premium is similar to that of a cleat. Because of the upper’s upgrade to leather and suede, a touch of classic luxury is added. However, the form of the midsole contrasts the classic feel and brings a modern edge to the shoe.
The Under Armour shoe comes in various colorways: Black, Blast, and Steel. The Black colorway features black leather and suede with a white midsole and orange detailing. The Blast colorway comes with a reddish-orange upper, while the Steel colorway comes with a light gray upper.
