I really like these shoes. They're pretty nice.
- Under Armour upholds the Charged Impulse as a highly versatile product designed for runners who like optimum flexibility and reactive performance. The aesthetics of this model follow the modern trends, with minimalist touches like printed overlays and cloth-like mesh completing the silhouette.
- The underfoot cushioning system is made of a two-layer primary foam that offers a blend of moderate firmness and springy performances. On top is a removable sockliner that presents a soft surface for the underside of the foot. Not a lot of rubber is used for the outsole, but its presence is always welcome.
The Under Armour Charged Impulse is designed to be true to size. Runners are welcome to get a pair using their routine expectations for size. However, it is also recommended to personally test the shoe first or study user reviews from different sources to fully achieve comfort.
The fit is influenced by the upper unit’s use of stretchy, cloth-like fabric, the minimalist construction of the facade, and the semi-curved shape of the platform. All of these parts are designed to accommodate the natural curvature of the human foot.
The external pad of the Under Armour Charged Impulse is primarily made of ground-contact foam. This surface is designed to provide traction through ribbed patterns. This material serves as the majority of the area that is in contact with the ground, it is charged with being long-lasting. The brand had used quality materials when they made this shoe, so durability plays into the individual experience.
Rubber covers the high-wear areas of the heel and forefoot. These areas are meant to protect against the abrasive nature of the asphalt. Rubber also has an inherent capacity to adhere to the ground, making it a module for traction and surface control.
Deep flex grooves permit this running shoe to bend in conjunction with the foot as it goes through the gait cycle. A dual-layer Charged Cushioning® midsole piece is used for the Under Armour Charged Impulse. This technology is touted to be durable at the base and responsive all around. The topmost portion is made to be a bit firm to encourage snappy toe-offs.
A sockliner is placed right above the dual-layer setup of the platform. This add-on is tasked with providing the user with a smooth surface on which to rest the foot. It can be removed or substituted with a new sockliner if the user wants to do so.
The outer part of the upper unit is made of engineered mesh, a cloth-like cover that is designed to provide a form-fitting and flexible coverage. It has breathing holes on its facade to permit air into the foot-chamber, thus maintaining a cool and dry ride. Many running shoe series feature engineered mesh, including the Brooks Launch and the Hoka One One Clifton.
The eyestays and the medial and lateral sides of the upper unit feature printed overlays, with the latter taking the form of the Under Armour logo. These synthetic prints bolster the durability of the fabrics while also helping the lacing system in providing a secure in-shoe hug.
A traditional lacing system fills the instep part of this shoe. Semi-flat shoelaces run from the vamp to the front part of the collar, influencing the fabrics to tighten or loosen with them as they’re adjusted.
The rear portion features a wraparound thermoplastic strip to bolster durability and help with in-shoe security. This counter prevents the foot from wobbling while inside the shoe, as well as averting accidental shoe removals.
