Updates to Vionic Miles

  • The Vionic Miles is a walking shoe designed for women. This model employs the brand’s Advanced Motion System (AMS) technology, a construction that involves the use of a lightweight and breathable mesh upper, a cushioned midsole, and a podiatrist-designed Foot Motion Technology (FMT) orthotic insole. The top also features thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) overlays that not only strengthen the fabric but also provide support.
  • The midsole is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), a foam compound that is lightweight, durable, and flexible. This layer also functions as the outsole, though hard-wearing areas are reinforced with rubber.  Inside the shoe is an orthotic insert that utilizes the 1st Ray technology that allows the first metatarsal of the foot to bend naturally.

Size and fit

The Vionic Miles is available in women’s whole and half sizes. The D - Wide width is only available in US sizes 6-11, while the B - Medium width profile is available in all sizes. The mesh upper allows the foot to bend, but the synthetic overlays prevent the material from losing its shape. It also has a roomy forefoot for toe splaying.

The foam midsole of the Vionic Miles also serves as the outsole. This compound is made to be durable to endure the wear and tear associated with exercise and everyday use. The high-wear areas are lined with rubber to protect against abrasion and enhance traction of the underside. Flex grooves help the foot move naturally during the heel-to-toe transition while the tread pattern grips the surface in multiple directions.

Protecting the foot against impact is the EVA foam midsole. This compound is engineered to be durable and resilient, so it can accommodate natural foot bending without losing its shape. It features an ombre effect at the upper portion which adds to the overall style of the shoe.

Inside the Vionic Miles is a removable EVA footbed. This element enhances the shock attenuation offered by the primary midsole. It is covered with mesh which aids in wicking moisture away from the foot. It also features the 1st Ray technology which has a soft part under the ball of the foot, allowing the first metatarsal to move freely.

The Vionic Miles utilizes a dual-layer mesh upper that provides a supportive coverage. The material is also breathable which helps in keeping the inside fresh. The interior has a smooth fabric lining that delivers a comfortable in-shoe feel.

Printed synthetic overlays line the toe box and the quarters. They protect the mesh from abrasion, so the material does not easily tear. Stitched-on TPU overlays form a cage at the midfoot which amplifies lateral support when the laces are tightened. There’s also an overlay that wraps the heel, acting like a heel counter that steadies the rearfoot during exercises.

A traditional lace-up closure is found on the midfoot. Users can tighten or loosen the patterned laces to achieve a comfortable fit. There’s also a tab at the back of the collar which wearers can utilize to pull up the shoe quickly.

Locking the foot down is the lightly padded tongue and collar. They prevent chafing and keep the foot and ankle comfortable.
