- The KMD EVO is one of the several updates to the Vibram Fivefingers’ Komodo line. It features the same XS Trek sole found in other KMD shoes. It is designed to be flexible while providing excellent traction on almost any terrain. It is also durable and protects the foot from sharp objects on the ground.
- Inside, the Drilex sockliner serves as the midsole. It adds comfort and keeps the foot from unpleasant odor.
- It uses the speed-lace system that delivers a custom fit with one quick pull. Like other Vibram FiveFingers shoes, it is machine washable, and it dries quickly, ready for the next use.
The KMD EVO is available in both men’s and women’s versions and runs true to size. It comes in D – Medium and B – Medium width for men and women, respectively. Due to the tight construction of the shoe, some users may find the fit not suitable for their liking. It is recommended that consumers try the footwear in person to obtain an agreeable fit.
The Vibram’s XS TREK outsole is made of a rubber compound that’s designed to give an exceptional underfoot feel while still providing adequate protection. This material is abrasion resistant and responsive on different kinds of terrain. Its tread pattern is designed to enhance surface grip. Moreover, it extends to the front of the toes to add a layer of protection.
The midsole of the KMD EVO is a 2-mm ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. It is lightweight, resilient and has shock absorption properties that protect the foot from impact. It is lined with the Drilex sockliner which has antimicrobial features that prevent the development of foul odor and keep the foot fresh.
The upper unit of the KMD EVO uses 100% low elastic polyester filament. Polyester is commonly used in clothing because it does not readily stretch or shrink. Also, it’s durable, washable, quick-drying, and able to withstand harsh climates. The knitted construction allows it to stretch and conform to the shape of the foot for a custom fit. Though breathable, the material is designed to keep debris out.
The trainer uses a speed lace system that can be adjusted with one quick pull. The toggle keeps the laces tight around the foot without being too constricting. It has a pull tab at the back of the shoe that makes it easier to put on.
Individual pockets separate each toe. This design aims to strengthen each toe by giving them more freedom to spread and move.
