Updates to Vasque Clarion ‘88
- American footwear brand Vasque reintroduced the Clarion ‘88 equipped with features ready for the modern demands of warm, dry hikes. Its lightweight upper, made from a combination of suede and fabric, gives all-day comfort and breathability.
- It employs a dual-density EVA midsole and an anatomical high rebound footbed for cushioning. On the other hand, surface traction is being handled by the Vibram Winkler outsole.
Size and fit
The Vasque Clarion ‘88 is a fairly true-to-size day hiking boot for men. It comes in standard width and regular sizes. The brand engineers crafted it using the straight-lined Sundowner last. Its low volume profile grants a snug fit at the heel area which also prevents slippage.
This mid-cut hiking boot features a Vibram Winkler outsole. This material is made of XS Trek compound which creates a balance between durability and grip. Its opposing chevron lugs bite into uneven terrain, and the angled boots in the toe and heel areas assist on uphill and downhill slopes. It also has an aggressive heel brake.
The Vasque Clarion ‘88 has a bi-density EVA midsole. This material absorbs shock from ground impacts and provides lightweight cushioning. It is partnered with an anatomical high rebound footbed for a more comfortable and supportive ride. The TPU heel clip, on the other hand, renders stability.
The upper of the Clarion ‘88 uses an abrasion-resistant fabric. It has suede overlays in areas that are more prone to scrapes and wear. This layout delivers a durable, flexible and breathable build. Inside the boot is a moisture-wicking lining and foam which yields a cozy feel.
Its lacing system is comprised of D-rings and open hooks with a flat lace. It also has a cushioned tongue and collar for comfort.
