Under Armour HOVR SLK History

In 1996, Kevin Plank, a young former special teams soccer captain, founded Under Armour in his grandmother’s basement. He traveled around the East Coast often, selling apparel from the trunk of his car. Plank got the idea for his business when, as an athlete, he got tired of having to change his sweat-drenched t-shirts which he had to wear underneath his jerseys.

He also noticed that the compression shorts that his team had to wear during practice stayed dry in comparison. From this, he had the idea of making t-shirts made up of moisture-wicking synthetic material. His groundbreaking innovation led to such big sports brands as Adidas, Nike, and Reebok to come up with their own moisture-wicking apparel line.

The exposure proved to be good for the brand, with many athletes and casual wearers taking notice. This led to exponential growth over the years, enabling Under Armour to push the boundaries further and expand its product catalog. Soon, more items were added, such as sports uniforms, accessories and shoes for athletic and casual wear.

Footwear has been an increasingly integral aspect of the brand, with such top athletes as NBA MVP Stephen Curry signing on. With its increasing influence, Under Armour continues to innovate and release notable kicks that have become everyday essentials for men and women.  One of the brand’s most noteworthy lines is the HOVR series, which includes shoes for basketball players, runners, and casual wearers.

One of the sneakers in this series is the low-top Under Armour HOVR SLK. This model strikes the perfect balance between style and sport, meant to keep the wearer moving all day long. It has a clean, comfortable, and lightweight design that is not made to be slowed down by anything. HOVR is the brand’s latest cushioning innovation, designed to give ultimate comfort for everyday activities.
