Under Armour HOVR Machina 2: What makes it a workhorse?

The HOVR Machina is considered a workhorse because (1) it can handle long miles and (2) it can take a beating. But what are the features of this shoe that give it such durable makeup? Read on to find out.

  • The midsole is a combination of a Pebax plate and the brand's HOVR foam. More than giving you a propulsive sensation, the combination of these two create a protective and sturdy cushion.
  • Complementing the midsole is the outsole. The rubber coverage on the sole is very ample that the shoe can even handle light trails and mute out any harsh surface element.

What and who is it for?

The Under Armour HOVR Machina 2 is perfect for neutral runners who are looking for a reliable daily trainer. For those who are still getting into competitions, this is also tagged as an entry-level racer.

HOVR Machina 2 vs. 1

When the first Machina was released, it had a warm reception, except that runners found the midsole a tad too stiff. This time around, UA took that feedback and applied these changes to the Machina 2:

  • The HOVR foam is made slightly softer. To make sure there aren't any wobbling during runs, the Pebax plate remains in the midsole.
  • For a more comfortable feel, the upper has been updated. It is now lined with Rush lining, which is the brand's high-performance clothing line, promoting blood flow while keeping the muscles feeling good.

The result? A traditional feeling ride, but more forgiving.

Stay connected

Just like most UA running shoes, the Machina 2 is embedded with a chip that allows you to connect it to your phone to store data when running. And with the data collected, the MapMyRun App can coach you on how to better your running form and performance.
