Good to know
-This quality hiking sandal from Timberland has uppers made of ReBOTL fabric - an innovative material made of at least 50% recycled plastic and synthetic leather.
-It also features an EVA footbed and outsole that delivers lightweight cushioning and underfoot protection.
The Timberland Ripcord features an open-toe construction with two adjustable straps - one on the forefoot and another around the ankle. There's a strap connecting the front and ankle straps, helping hold the foot in place. This sandal doesn't have a toe ring for maximum freedom of movement. Furthermore, its contoured footbed nicely cups the foot for a locked-in feel.
This hiking sandal from Teva uses an outsole made of EVA. It's a type of plastic sole that is usually lighter and more flexible than rubber. Combined with its shock-absorbing qualities, the softness and flexibility of EVA promote agile performance on the trail with less pressure on the foot. Additionally, EVA doesn’t conduct as much heat as rubber, so it helps keep the foot warm as the wind cools at the end of the day. Lastly, it is very durable and is able to withstand a long time of use and abuse.
For the footbed, this sandal also uses EVA with a softer density for plush cushioning. Such footbed is contoured to the shape of the foot for a snug, locked-in feel - as if you're wearing a real hiking shoe.
This eco-conscious footwear features the ReBOTL fabric in its upper. It's made from an innovative method of recycling plastic bottles and converting them into durable fabrics that can be used in footwear and apparel. ReBOTL has many great qualities similar to other fabrics used for shoe uppers. They are durable, quite stretchy, and can resist abrasion. This material also contains synthetic leather which further enhances its durability.
The Ripcord sandal features a hoop and loop closure system with Velcro straps for easy adjustability of the fit.
- Since 2009, Timberland has prevented 310 million plastic bottles from reaching the landfills by converting them into ReBOTL yarn. In 2017 alone, the company was able to reuse the equivalent of 41 million bottles in its footwear products. This is in line with its commitment to sustainability.
- Timberland recommends using appropriate foaming cleanser and water repellent to maintain the good condition of the Ripcord sandal.
