Timberland Groveton Slip-On Style
While most low-top Timberland sneakers feature a lace closure, the Timberland Groveton Slip-On flaunts a laidback slip-on style (hence the name) for modernized casual comfort. The entire toe box features premium leather material for that luxurious and classic look, while the other half portion of the upper has breathable Cordura EcoMade canvas.
The shoe dropped in a variety of solid colors including Black Nubuck, Burgundy Nubuck, Dark Green Nubuck, Grey Nubuck, Navy Nubuck, and Wheat Nubuck.
Slip-on sneakers are known for being a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of kick. They are pretty straightforward and feature a casually looking sneaker profile – low-top, no complicated closure system, and most of the time displays a minimally designed appearance.
However, the Timberland Groveton Slip-On is a bit different. While it meets the criteria mentioned above, this slip-on sneaker model features one thing that sets distinction. It is an eco-friendly shoe. The canvas material on the upper is made from 100% recycled polyester while some other components contain at least 50% recycled PET.
Timberland Groveton Slip-On History
Timberland is an established footwear brand that specializes in producing outdoor cleats and casual sneakers. It was founded by American shoemaker and entrepreneur Nathan Swartz, who initially bought 50% shares of the Abington Shoe Company which later renamed Timberland.
When Nathan Swartz retired in 1968, his son Herman Swartz took over the company as CEO until 1986. His other son, Sidney Swartz, continued the family legacy from 1986 to 1998. Then in 1998, Sidney’s son Jeffrey Swartz took the CEO position until in 2011 when he sold the company to VF Corporation.
To date, Timberland remains a top player in the industry as it continues manufacturing top-of-the-line performance and lifestyle-focused footwear. In 2015, it debuted the Timberland Groveton Plain-Toe Chukka Shoes as one of its hiking-inspired models.
A slip-on rendition of the Groveton has also been made available in the market called the Timberland Groveton Slip-On. It features a low-top profile with an upper made of a combination of premium leather and breathable canvas. It is also jampacked with promising features including Rebotl material, Cordura EcoMade canvas, L7 Traction Lug outsole, Gripstick Rubber, and recycled materials.
