The North Face Litewave Ampere uses the UltrATAC on the outsole. According to the company, this type of rubber provides excellent traction on multiple surfaces and conditions. It extends to the front and serves as a protection against abrasion and impact.
The outsole wraps the medial and lateral sides of the midfoot to deliver lateral support during dynamic movements. This extension also aids the user during rope climbs.
Flex grooves are found throughout its length to support multidirectional movements and proper foot flexion.
The tread pattern increases the surface area of the outsole which, in turn, heightens traction.
A full-length TPU plate makes up a section of the Litewave Ampere’s midsole. This plastic material is elastic and resistant to abrasion and oil. This cushioning unit does not get compressed quickly. It also has a high energy return, giving users a bit of spring in their step.
This model also employs CMEVA, a type of foam that is responsive. It has shock-absorbing properties to prevent any foot pains or discomfort while training.
At the rear portion of the midsole is the CRADLE, a technology that aims to stabilize the heel. It is constructed from the EVA foam and is engineered to absorb impact. It also promotes anatomically correct strides.

The North Face Litewave Ampere features a dual mesh construction. A closed mesh is used in the lower quarter or the upper while a breathable mesh covers the rest of the top unit.
A traditional lace-up closure with flat laces secures the foot inside the foot-chamber. The padded tongue protects the instep, preventing the laces from digging into the skin.
A welded-TPU compound is added in the midfoot area. It integrates with the lacing system and acts like the cables of a suspension bridge, delivering support where it is needed. Tightening the laces causes the welded-TPU to hug the sides of the foot, providing a snug fit. It also serves as an external heel clip. This structure keeps the heel from sliding inside the shoe to prevent injuries.
The plush collar supports the ankle and prevents chafing. It also locks down the heel to avoid accidental shoe removal while in motion.
