They feel very soft, but they fit well.
I probably got about maybe like 15-18 sessions in this shoe. I think it's their best.
As a performance all-arounder, the Mastia strikes a solid balance between comfort and power, making it a great choice for difficult multi-pitch, bouldering, and long, varied sport pitches.
After climbing with the Tenaya Mastia for a while now, I really think it will become a big hit. The performance is there, the comfort is there and the quality is there.
The Tenaya Mastia climbing shoe is crafted for ascents where tiny holds are prevalent. Its engineers gave it a kind of construction that capacitates the shoe to release pressure around the toe zone, thereby allowing the wearer to ascend with enhanced maneuverability.
Tenaya gave this rock climbing shoe a rating of 4 out of 5 stars in the category of rigidity. With this amount of stiffness, the Mastia is sturdy enough to transmit energy from foot to rock with efficiency.
The Mastia comes with two technologies exclusive to Tenaya: SXR Dynamics and RBRX. The former lends the shoe improved adaptability over a variety of rock shapes without sacrificing comfort and precision. The latter, on the other hand, makes the Mastia extra responsive in virtually all sorts of climbing situations.
Downturn. This climb-focused shoe has an aggressive camber. Its highly downturned profile allows for gaining purchase on tricky edges with sufficient precision and strength. As it forces the foot to curl downward, and heavily at that, its supply of comfort may only be limited to single-pitch climbs.
Applications. The Tenaya Mastia is ideal for sport climbs and boulder-type ascents. Its combination of features and technologies makes it a capable tool for navigating vertical routes and overhangs alike. It may be used either on walls (indoors) or rock (outdoors).
The Mastia from Tenaya is a below-the-ankle rock climbing shoe. As it is a unisex gear, female climbers are advised to go down a full size to get a precise fit. The shoe is built on an asymmetric last, giving its inner side a lateral curve. Its all-synthetic construction may yield little-to-no stretch. It has a foot width response rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, allowing the shoe to conform to the width of the foot with ease. Fit personalization is possible via the climbing shoe’s Velcro closure.
Midsole. This aggressive rock shoe provides enough climbing support with its two-part midsole, called GI 1.8 y TST 150. For added comfort, Tenaya shoemakers paired it with a multi-layered dual-density Stretchtex insole.
Outsole. With the Mastia’s Vibram XS Grip outsole, senders can mount on virtually any surface with enough adhesion. This component has a thickness of 3.5 mm.
The Tenaya Mastia’s unlined upper is made of microfiber. It comes built with a kind of tongue (bellows) that keeps debris out of the shoe. Front and back, the upper is sufficiently randed, giving wearers enhanced abrasion protection and extra lateral surface traction. For additional toe-hooking security, its toe box and instep are engineered with a rubber patch.
Two pull tabs are attached to its heel to facilitate on and off. Its closure system consists of a single strap engineered with hook-and-loop fasteners.
Just like most aggressive rock climbing shoes, the Tenaya Mastia is built for durability. That said, it is never a bad thing to clean the shoe and keep it in good condition, especially after using it outdoors. To that end, consider practicing the following:
- After each climb, scrape off dirt and debris from the Mastia’s outsole using a soft-bristled brush. This can also be done by gently rubbing the left and right soles together. Finish cleaning the outsole with a damp (not soaking wet) cloth.
- Keep the upper spick and span by brushing off dirt from the microfiber parts and rubber rands. Use a white eraser to try and remove skid marks.
- If the Tenaya Mastia gets damp with sweat, allow it to dry in a breezy yet shaded place.
- Rid the shoe’s confines of debris, making sure that no foreign elements are stuck inside the seams.
- If the Mastia will not be used for a long time, stuff it with some clean newspaper and store it in a cool, dry place. Never stash it inside the car, especially not inside the trunk.
- Avoid exposing the shoe in direct sunlight to prevent its rubber parts from warping.
-The Mastia is engineered without the use of any animal substance, making it a vegan-friendly rock climbing shoe.
