Size and fit

Sizes for the women’s Taos Retro Star shoes range from 6 to 12. The shoes provide an excellent fit when it comes to width, but the length runs small. A half size up adjustment is necessary. The same is also suggested for purchasers with wide feet.

A six-pair eyelet lacing system utilizes flat laces to provide fit customization. The uppers are made of either suede or leather. The suede editions are comfortable out of the box. However, the leather variations need to be broken in a bit for comfort.

These shoes contain ample arch support courtesy of the very cushioned removable insoles.

Taos Retro Star Style

Retro Stars are comfy kicks with an edge. The shoes contain a sporty, casual look that is elevated by the premium suede/leather uppers. The colored pinstripe foxings add a bit of balance and contrast to what would otherwise be stark white midsoles. Uppers are either tonal or two-toned.

The low top-profiled shoes are best when paired with leggings, capris, and jeans. Top off with a simple shirt and a pretty denim jacket, and you’re all set.

Taos Retro Stars come in red, white, black, dark olive, khaki, tan, sage, blue, ice, and more colors.

Notable Features

A lot of people have been raving about the comfort of these kicks, from regular people who just like the cushioning to people with plantar fascitis or who are struggling after feet surgery. They all love the Active Curves and Pods removable footbeds. And with good reason.

Curves and Pods footbeds offer metatarsal, heel, and arch support. They alleviate pressure on the balls of the feet, provide stability and balance, and conform to the arches. The bottoms are riddled with pods that absorb shock for better cushioning.

The footbeds are treated with SILVADUR Antimicrobial treatment, which delivers silver ions whenever organisms land on the footbed. These ions are on continual release to kill those microbes to prevent odor.

Taos Retro Star History

In 2005, the Taos company was launched to bring comfort sandals to the market. In later years, the brand’s inventory would expand to include oxfords, flats, sneakers, and more.

Taos footwears are distinct because of how deeply the company’s New Mexico artisan heritage dominate the designs. Touches of nature and metalworks are infused into each of the brand’s products.

The company has been steadily growing in the decade since its launch and is fast becoming a by-word in households all over the U.S. and beyond. In recent years, it has been posting double-digit growth in sales, which are largely helped by the launch of the Active collection.

This Active line blew through retailers in 2017 and is known for the tagline, “Comfort built from the inside out.” Curves and Pods footbeds lead the shoes in this collection, while rich earth tones define the designs. Retro Stars are Active shoes that follow the uncompromising comfort and distinctive styling of the range.
