History of the Supra Society II

When the first installment of the Supra Society II was released in the middle of May 2009, many speculated that its towering built was too high for a sneaker. Called the TK Society, this was a joint project between Supra and American pro skater and founder of Fly Society clothing line, Terry Kennedy.

Built more for everyday use than for skateboarding, this sky-high sneaker had a lace-up closure and two Velcro straps across the shin for support. It has a polyurethane heel protection molded into the high upper which keeps the rear part of the shoe nice and secured. The rubber sole offers full-length protection which shields the feet from impact and provides the right amount of flexibility.

The high-top Supra TK Society has a personality that caught the interest of pro riders, skater newbies, and sneaker fans who adore the skate-style image. Critics of the TK Society were overshadowed by supporters of this shoe and pushed for the release of several iterations in an assortment of colorways and materials such as high-grade leather, suede, patent leather, and cracked leather.

Even Justin Bieber, who was caught by the fandom was witnessed sporting the TK Society which led to his team-up with this skate-rooted brand for the release of the Justin Bieber Supra TK Society which came in different designs using textile and metallic leather.

Five years later, Kennedy and Supra parted ways, apparently at the height of the TK Society’s success. Incidentally, Supra came out with the Supra Society II not too long later, taking on the core elements of the former signature shoe.
