Size and fit

The Sperry Captain’s Slip On is a men’s low-top sneaker with sizes available from US 4 to 15 in M (medium) width, including half sizes up to 11.5. The majority of reviewers claimed that it runs true to size. The low-top construction with a slip-on closure allows non-restrictive fit and easy on and off wear, especially with the elastic goring to the sides.

Sperry Captain's Slip-On Style

Simple and classic are probably the best words that describe the Sperry Captain’s Slip On sneakers. These shoes take the original design from 1935 – plain and versatile. The upper lacks any fancy detailing, just the canvas material in a slip-on construction that sits atop a white rubber midsole.

Notable Features

The low-top Captain’s Slip On shoe features the original 1935 design of the Sperry Captain's CVO, but upgraded with features and technologies for modern comfort. It has a removable full-length contoured footbed and abrasion-resistant lining for supplemental in-shoe comfort and lesser break-in period. The rubber outsole is equipped with Sperry's patented Razor-Cut Wave-Siping technology for optimum traction on any surface and won’t leave scuffs to floors.

Sperry Captain's Slip-On History

Back in 1935, Paul Sperry created the first ever Sperry sneaker, the Captain’s CVO (Circular Vamp Oxford), or simply CVO. It is a low-top sneaker with a canvas upper and a non-slip rubber outsole that took inspiration from Paul's cocker spaniel named Prince. The outsole follows a wave siping pattern that mimics the dog’s paws.

Recently, Sperry released an upgraded version of the Captain’s CVO that gives out modern comfort while staying true to the silhouette’s classic roots – the Sperry Captain’s Slip On. This shoe retained the low-top construction and canvas material but turned into a slip-on shoe for more convenient wearing and comfortable fit and feel. Surfacing from the growing number of Sperry's slip-on variations, this kick is offered in several colorways, with sizes available for men. Each pair initially retails at $60.
