History of Sperry 7 SEAS Carbon
Released in March 2017, the Sperry 7 SEAS Carbon Boat Shoe is developed in collaboration with the elite athletes of America’s Cup. It is built to face the challenge of the sea and trek different terrains.
Part of the 7 SEAS collection, it has a robust and water-repelling upper and beastly-traction capability to ensure its user sure-footed confidence with every stride.
Thanks to Paul Sperry who started this innovative shoe back in 1935. He was a sailor who wanted to address the problem on how to get a steady foot while on the boat.
Sperry took the inspiration from his dog when he saw it effortlessly darting on an icy surface. Like the dog’s paws, he carved grooves and creases on the outsoles, resulted to the maximum traction he needed. His discovery and innovation applied to the boat shoe was an instant hit.
