Good to know

The Sidi T-4 Air Carbon triathlon shoe is engineered with two Velcro straps to allow easy entry and exit and is said to perform like an expensive road footgear. It employs a highly breathable and perforated upper with a Twelve Carbon composite sole that provides sufficient rigidity. A plush and smooth interior enhances sock-free comfort, while a reinforced heel cup keeps the foot in the optimal position.

Stiff power transfer and long-lasting comfort. No matter what discipline the cyclist practices, rigidity is considered the main ingredient in cycling shoes. And Sidi offers exactly this via the T-4 Air Carbon by incorporating their new Twelve Carbon Composite sole. It is made from two different materials blended: Nylon and Carbon Fiber. The Nylon used in this shoe doesn’t absorb water and is less susceptible to bending over time.

Replaceable heel pads. This pair provides the traction necessary for standing up and comfortable walking. What’s more, is the polyurethane heel pads can be renewed so that the user could get more extended wear out of the shoe.

The Sidi T-4 Air Carbon employs a 3-bolt cleat design, a standard feature for both road and triathlon-specific shoes. Try the following pedals to go with this shoe: Shimano 105 SPD-SL Carbon, Look Keo 2, Time Xpresso 6, and Crank Brothers Eggbeater 2. For correct positioning, a scale is printed on the shoe’s outsole.

Vented, durable upper. This shoe features the brand’s Politex material for its upper. This material is made with several overlapped layers. These layers are made from different physical-mechanical properties that are compacted and then ultimately grouped into two fabrics: knitted fabric and felt. Lastly, it is then film-dyed to make color retention last.

Politex is generally known to provide excellent resistance against scrapes, stretching and ripping.

Heel stabilizer. An anatomically shaped plastic is inserted in the heel area to support and keep the heel in an optimal position. It also prevents heel slip and helps increase power transfer.

Reinforced toe area. An added layer of material is incorporated in the toe box to protect the foot from bumps and impacts.

Easy and efficient closure system. The T-4 Air Carbon shoe employs a two-strap closure for effortless on and off during race transitions. The large top strap unfastens away from the bike for seamless adjusting while on the saddle. The bottom strap is a set-and-forget type where once you have established the fit you desire, the strap doesn’t have to be readjusted again.

Pull tab on the heel. A heel-loop is provided to work in conjunction with the shoe’s other features to deliver quick and effortless transitions. The tab could also serve as an aid in drying the footwear.

The Sidi T-4 Air Carbon is offered in men’s and women’s versions. Some of its strengths are its incredible fit and a well-shaped last. For triathletes, the brand understands that the ratchet system is not ideal for this particular discipline. Hence, Sidi incorporated a closure system with two straps that work in conjunction with a one-piece, wrap-like upper for efficient and fast adjusting. Finally, it employs an upper material that retains its structure for easier wearing even while in the middle of the ride.

The shoe employs cushioned insoles for enhanced in-step comfort and vibration dampening. These footbeds are anatomically shaped to hug the foot and keep it from sliding around inside the shoe.

  • Brandings abundantly placed in the shoe’s following areas: lateral, medial, and rear parts of the upper, main strap, outsole, and insole.
