Who should buy the Scott Road RC SL

The Scott Road RC SL are premium road bike shoes designed for pro-level cycling. It is a solid option if you:

  • Prefer a cycling shoe that provides an excellent power transfer.
  • Prefer a cycling shoe that provides all-day comfort and secures your feet on the road.
  • Prefer a cycling shoe that has an eye-catching coloring and makes it an absolute eye-catcher.

Who should not buy the Scott Road RC SL

One of the biggest downsides to the shoes is the steep price. They cost more than Shimano or Bont’s top shoes and are priced close to semi-custom options.  Also, if you've got particularly awkward-shaped feet, you might want to consider checking out Bont's Vapor and Lake CX402. They are highly commended and are heat-mouldable.

Stiff carbon fiber outsole

The Scott Road RC SL shoes utilize Scott’s HMX carbon fiber soles. With a full-length design, the soles are one of Scott’s stiffness road insoles and utilize a proprietary high-modulus carbon fiber blend reserved for their premium products.

There is also a large nylon mesh at the front of the shoe that funnels air into the toe box while heel and toe pads improve the walkability of the shoes.

Scott Road RC SL's cleat system

The soles have standard 3-bolt cleat compatibility with fore and aft adjustment. Its helpful angle and positional markings on the sole help ensure you place your cleats consistently.

Stable footbed and all-day comfort

This shoe has a supportive stable platform and it offers maximum performance and all-day comfort. This is a shoe that can adapt to a wide range of feet and offer a glove-like fit.

Exceptionally lightweight and provides a precise fit

The upper is made from Carbitex CX6 carbon fiber textile. It is an impressive product that combines the high strength and low weight of carbon fiber into a pliable textile form. This allows the Road RC SL shoes to be exceptionally lightweight and provide a precise fit for sprinting or all-day rides.

BOA IP-1 Closure System

Scott has utilized a dual IP-1 BOA dial closure system with a front-facing lacing pattern across the tongue. It strikes the ideal balance between precision and convenience. It offers a pull-to-release functionality for easy on/off and two-way incremental adjustment on the fly.

The traditional pull-to-release functionality delivers the same easy-on/easy-off convenience that users know and love. IP-1's new, two-way incremental adjustment capabilities facilitate easy tightening or tension release mid-ride.
