This mountain cycling shoe form Scott features a rigid sole unit that makes it easier to push forward on tricky terrains. It is constructed to fit closely for a secure and comfortable in-shoe experience. It also has a closure system that allows wearers to quickly fine-tune the fit.
Another model to consider which closely resembles the MTB Team BOA is the Scott MTB Comp BOA. These trainers look very similar; however, the MTB Comp BOA’s outsole is not as stiff as the MTB Team BOA’s.
Stiffness level. The MTB Team BOA scores an 8 out of 10 in the Scott Stiffness Index. That number translates to a very rigid outsole that makes pedaling, even on uneven terrains, quite easy.
Traction. This pair of cycling shoes is equipped with the Sticki rubber. It is a compound that provides a reliable grip on any condition and various surfaces like soil, rocks, or roots. It also features the X Traction tread pattern that enhances the grip on uneven terrains.
Comfortable ride. The sole unit employs the Power Zone construction. It aims to decrease the strain on the ankle and the knees by allowing torsional flex from the arch to the heel.
The Scott MTB Team BOA uses a two-hole cleat system. This mountain cycling trainer is compatible with the following pedals: Shimano XT M800 Trail, Funn Ripper, Nukeproof Horizon CS, and Crankbrother Mallet E LS, to name a few.
Reliable comfort. The upper of this mountain bike trainer is made of 3D Airmesh. This material is soft and allows air to freshen the foot chamber.
The synthetic polyurethane overlays protect the fabric against abrasion. Vents are present on the overlays, so this layer won’t hinder aeration of the interior.
Foothold. The top of the MTB Team BOA feels like a second skin because of the Wrap Fit construction. It has two parts: the structural layer at the top and the Accu-form butted seams on the inside. The synthetic material allows it to snugly hug the foot while the Accu-form butted seams prevent pressure points.
Lockdown. A BOA Fit System with IP-1 dials is placed on the instep area of this footwear. It allows for quick micro-adjustments and loosening is just as easy as pulling on the dial. Near the toes is a single hook-and-loop strap. It aids in tightening the hold at the broadest part of the foot, preventing power loss while pedaling.
The MTB Team BOA is under Scott’s Performance Fit category. It means that it can accommodate various types of foot shapes and still provides a glove-like fit.
Inside this pair of cycling shoes is the ErgoLogic insole. This component is removable to accommodate the use of custom inserts. What makes this footbed unique is that the arch area is adjustable to account for individual foot geometry.
