  • The Saucony Linchpin features the PowerGrid technology on its midsole. PowerGrid is a foam material that delivers premium cushioning, as well as an exceptionally smooth and responsive ride. This technology is a combination of Saucony’s Grid cushioning and PowerFoam technology. The mechanics are very similar but the main difference is that the PowerGrid is lighter and gives a more responsive ride.
  • On the upper of this Saucony shoe, hot melt overlays can be seen and they’re fused to the breathable mesh upper. These overlays are film-thin to ensure that the shoe is still lightweight. Despite their thinness, they still provide lightweight support to the upper of the shoe.

The Saucony Linchpin comes in standard shoe lengths. Runners will be able to get a pair in their usual size preferences. Similar to its length, the shoe also comes in standard width measurements: D—medium for male runners and B—medium for female runners.

Runners should take note that the height of the arch of the shoe is from high to normal. This type of support will prevent runners from putting weight on the heel or toes, thereby promoting the ideal alignment of the foot-structures that are involved in running.

The outsole of the Saucony Linchpin was crafted to perform well on the roads. The herringbone on the outsole is made up of several flex grooves, flex lines and a guidance line, which help with the shoe’s traction and flexibility. These grooves and lines also make it possible for the shoe to deliver a smoother ride with every stride.

The midsole unit features Saucony’s PowerGrid technology. It is a foam material that is 15% lighter yet 30% more durable than the industry-standard foam compounds. Although the smooth gait transition is provided by the combined efforts of the technologies in the Linchpin, a majority of these benefits come from the PowerGrid technology.

ProGrid is an extra layer of cushioning introduced by Saucony on the midsole of this shoe. It is a combination of rubber and polymer. It’s mostly responsible for the smooth and flexible toe-off.

The upper of the shoe is made with a breathable mesh material, which is lightweight and breathable. Because the mesh is perforated, it lets the air in, thereby allowing the shoe to breathe and be cool at all times.

A synthetic toe cap was added to protect the toes when the runner is in motion. Typically, when engaging in different activities, the toes can easily get bumped. In addition to that, the tip of the forefoot section is usually first to give in to wear and tear. This structure on the upper also adds an extra layer to prevent the two scenarios mentioned.

The hot melt overlays on the shoe are thin, but they still add minimal support to the dorsal portion of the foot. They also give the lateral sides of the shoe minor support, maintaining the shape of the shoe and slightly enhancing its durability.

A full lacing system can be found on the upper of the shoe as well. The overlays are extended to where the eyelets are located. An extra eyelet is placed near the collar of the shoe just in case the runner needs to loop in the lace for a more secure fit.

Providing slight support for the rear of the foot is a synthetic heel overlay. This structure hugs the heel and moderately secures it in place. It acts similarly to a heel counter, but doesn’t provide as much support.
