Saucony Jazz Low Pro History
When the brand Saucony gets mentioned, one can easily associate it with one of the best running shoes ever created, the Saucony Jazz - the sneaker model that won the hearts of the runners in the ‘80s and the brand’s best-seller sneaker model of all time.
It all began in 1981 when Saucony committed to working closely with a team of podiatrists led by Frank Santopietro in coming up with the best comfort shoe for distance runners. The concept was to design a sneaker that concentrates on weight reduction while achieving greater balance. This was achieved through the introduction of the Saucony Jazz. The Saucony Jazz features a low-top silhouette, a Maxitrac triangular lug outsole, a Saucony sock insert for an added comfort, and the “Butterfly Balance” design. It was created to be the best and it delivered, making it one of the most sought-after models up until now.
In 1998, the Jazz Original was re-released under the company’s new sub-brand called as the Saucony Originals, which caters to cost-conscious running aficionados. It has come a long way since then and has been released in different shades and variations to suit everyone – some are minimal, while others are in a pop of colors. In 2002, the Saucony Jazz Low Pro, which is the lower version of the original silhouette, was introduced.
- The Saucony Jazz Low Pro Vegan is a Jazz Low Pro version using materials that are not made from animal products, byproducts, or derivatives.
- The Jazz is also made available in kids sizes. These are the Little Kid’s Jazz Lite, Big Kid’s Jazz Lite, Big Kid’s Jazz Hook and Loop, and Little Kid’s Jazz Lite Hook and Loop. Little Kid sizes run from size 4 to 10 while Big Kid sizes run from 10.5 to 12.
- The “Low Pro” in the Saucony Jazz Low Pro name means “low profile”. The original Jazz model has a slightly elevated sole while the Low Pro version has somehow a flat or lower sole, in such a way that it appears to be sitting low on the ground when viewed from the side.
