Good to know

The Salomon Trailster 2 is a highly durable trail running shoe designed for optimal performance. This shoe features an improved upper for optimized fit and protection.

EnergyCell technology is incorporated into the midsole of the shoe for excellent cushioning. This material provides good energy return and long-lasting comfort, delivering a more efficient ride.

The upgraded toecap offers better protection against abrasion and sharp hazards. Additionally, the shoe is also equipped with SensiFit™ technology. This element ensures a secure fit from the midsole to the lacing system.

Breathable mesh fabric is used for continuous ventilation. Aside from keeping the foot dry and cool, the mesh material also protects the foot from the trail elements.

The second edition of the Salomon Trailster is available in standard running shoe length for both men and women versions. Consumers are welcome to get a pair in their regular sizing preferences. However, it is recommended to try the shoe in-store before making a purchase decision to ensure a perfect in-shoe fit. Runners may also check the general feedback about sizing.

The technical components that directly affect the fit of the shoe include the lacing system, which allows for a secure and customized fit. Other elements include the die-cut OrthoLite® sockliner and padded tongue that help provide a snugger in-shoe feel.

Providing a firm grip is the innovative Contagrip® MD technology. It is made out of a highly durable compound that offers aggressive traction on all types of mountainous terrain. This rubber outsole also protects the rest of the platform from tear and wear.

Enhancing the rubber outsole’s performance is the strategic lug pattern. The lugs are designed to deliver stability on technical terrain.

Salomon Trailster 2 incorporates EnergyCell technology. It is made from a high-performance EVA foam that supplies optimal energy return with each step. This component offers excellent cushioning and responsiveness, allowing for a more efficient running experience.

For premium comfort, a die-cut OrthoLite® sockliner is included in the shoe. Aside from added cushioning, the sockliner also helps enhance the shoe’s breathability. It also gives additional underfoot protection.

This Salomon trail running shoe features a stitch-free upper construction. This structure is intended to deliver a smooth and glove-like fit.

The single-layer mesh is used for breathable coverage. The mesh is a soft yet durable fabric that allows for continuous airflow, keeping the foot dry and cool for an extended period. This material also protects the top of the foot from the elements.

For a secure and snug fit, SensiFit™ technology is integrated into the shoe. The SensiFit™ is composed of a set of overlays and fabric eyelets, working together to hold the foot in place while walking or running. The SensiFit™ system is designed to adjust to the natural shape of the foot of each runner for a customized fit.

This Salomon running shoe is created with an improved toecap for added protection. The toecap is a protective piece of rubber that is attached over the toe area, shielding the toes from sharp objects.

The traditional lacing system is used for a more personalized fit. The shoelaces allow the runner to easily adjust the tightness around the shoe. Padded tongue and collar are also included in the shoe for added comfort and protection. These elements prevent the small rocks and debris from getting inside the shoe.

Salomon Trailster 2 compared to the Salomon Sense Ride 2

  • Similarities

The Salomon Trailster 2 and Salomon Sense Ride 2 are both trail running shoes that work best for runners with neutral gaits or those who do not overpronate.

The outsole units of these shoes utilize Contagrip® technology for firm grip and durability. The addition of the die-cute Ortholite® sockliner equipped the shoe to provide added comfort and support. The soft mesh fabric is also used in their upper units for breathability and comfort.

Another similarity between these shoes is the SensiFit™ system. This element provides targeted support to the areas that need it the most.

  • Differences

The apparent difference between these shoes is the type of lacing system used. Trailster 2 features the traditional lacing system for a customized fit, while the Sense Ride 2 incorporates the Quicklace™ system for a quick and easy shoe tying.

The Sense Ride 2 is designed with an 8 mm drop, while the Trailster 2 is created with a higher drop at 10 mm.

Another main difference between these shoes is the inclusion of the EndoFit™ in the Sense Ride 2. The EndoFit™ is an internal sleeve that hugs the foot, keeping it secure at all times. The addition of the EndoFit™ and other features made the Sense Ride 2 a bit expensive compared to the Trailster 2.
