Bottom line

Salomon developers seem to have done something quite spectacular in the Evasion 2 LTR. They managed to create a remarkably comfortable hiking shoe with outstanding sturdiness and a kind of fit that hugs the foot just right. The one thing that makes this gear a bit of a tough sell, however, is its subpar surface traction. All in all, the Evasion 2 LTR is yet another solid Salomon offering, especially for those who mostly hike on dry ground.

Good to know

  • The Salomon Evasion 2 LTR enables wearers to take on various day hiking challenges with its set of trail-centric features. Its leather upper is reinforced with mud guards, giving the shoe more protection from abrasive elements.
  • This Salomon below-the-ankle hiker is a direct successor to the first Evasion LTR. The engineers gave it a more slender build than the previous version, reducing the shoe’s weight by about a few grams as a result.
  • There is a slight change to this model’s lacing system as well. It drops the fabric lace loops of the first-generation Evasion LTR and in their place are regular eyelets.

A low-cut, fairly true-to-size hiker for men is the Salomon Evasion 2 LTR. It is offered in half and full sizes. It comes in D – standard width. Fit personalization is possible with the shoe’s classic lacing system. Its heel is engineered with a pull tab to make on and off a swift affair.

The Evasion 2 LTR promises footing security over tricky terrain with the Salomon-exclusive Contagrip outsole. Its aggressive lugs, shaped like arrowheads, actively produce traction in almost every angle. The spacing between these lugs allows the outsole to shed mud and debris during transitions.

A lightweight, foam-like layer made of EVA (or ethylene-vinyl acetate) serves as the shoe’s cushy yet stabilizing midsole. Its springy yet solid construction gives users adequate comfort underfoot, shock absorption, and rebound.

Doubling down on cushioning is the footgear’s die-cut Ortholite insole. It prevents underfoot slippage thanks to its adequately textured surface.

Three kinds of materials comprise the Evasion 2 LTR’s low-top upper: suede leather, textile, and synthetic fabric. The base is engineered with a mud guard for abrasion protection. Over at its heel is an overlay that grants the user extra heel support. A similar covering is also seen at the upper’s forefoot, protecting the toes against knocks and bumps.

The footwear’s lace-up closure includes a set of plated eyelets, which create a metallic sheen. Its flat laces are synthetic.
