Considered as one of the pioneer manufacturers of footwear, Puma had tapped almost all outlets of sports back in the day. One of these sports is basketball. In line with this, they released a basket shoe which is durable and is constructed with full leather. The Puma Basket, first introduced in 1968, was Puma's first attempt to monopolize the baller market.
Displaying the now-famous Puma Formstrip on its panels, the Basket had a piece of the limelight during its introduction. Due to its sturdy leather-wrapped nature, the basketball shoe contains perforations on the sides outlining the Formstrip logo. But as the years passed, its hard court intention would soon fade and transform into lifestyle wear.
Discovering the streetwear aspect of the sneaker led to different re-inventions to its design. It has constantly been revamped and was later renamed to be the Basket Classic in the more recent releases.
In 2015, Puma took the Basket to a whole new level of eccentric designs and embedded diamond protrusions all over the sneaker's upper. The Puma Basket Classic Dia Emboss features a myriad of six diamond shapes arranged in a circular motion to portray a textured image. Tinted in a peacoat hue, the shoe's contemporary design adds another unique option for Basket Classic fans.
