Who should buy the Pearl Izumi X-Alp Summit
Make your next hike-a-bike more pleasurable with this pair of Pearl Izumi mountain bike shoes. It is a solid option if you:
- Need a shoe that is equipped with a sole unit that is rigid for effective power transfer.
- Need a shoe that is made using several layers of mesh and synthetics that protectively wraps the foot against the elements.
- Need a shoe that has closure system and makes for quick on-and-off action while also ensuring a comfortable lockdown.
Excellent traction and rigity
The X-Alp Summit is meant to provide sure-footing whether wearers are on their bikes or hiking up a trail. It features a Vibram Megagrip outsole, which is a rubber compound that is thick and durable. It has aggressive lugs that bite dirt, rocks, and roots, preventing slippage.
Sandwiched between the outsole and the midsole is a ¾-inch long nylon composite shank. It reinforces the area, stiffening it to make pedaling less strenuous on the legs.
Pearl Izumi X-Alp Summit
The Pearl Izumi X-Alp Summit employs a two-holed cleat design. It is compatible with the following bike pedals: Funn Ripper, Crankbrothers Mallet E LS, Shimano XT M8020 Trail, and DMR V-Twin, to name a few.
Low-top construction
This Pearl Izumi shoe features a low-top construction. The design allows a full range of ankle motion. It also prevents the top of the shoe from chafing the shin or the back of the foot.
Secure lockdown
This model uses a combination of straps and ratchet to deliver a customized fit and secure lockdown. The ratchet, or 1:1 Anatomical Buckle Closure System, is found at the top and aims to reduce pressure at the instep. The two other straps allow for fit adjustments in the middle and near the toes.
Comfortable cushioning
Making up the top of the X-Alp Summit is an Advanced 3-Layer Seamless Composite material. The different layers are fused together, ensuring no seams can cause irritation to the foot. The upper is also breathable, so rides are sure to be comfortable.
The top-most layer also functions as a protective layer against flying debris and abrasion. There are perforation vents on the vamp that promotes aeration of the foot chamber.
