Size and fit

The Onitsuka Tiger Ally are unisex shoes that are based on men’s sizes which range from 5 to 14. Women are advised to go down a size and a half for their equivalent sizing. The shoes have full lace-up closures that are easy to adjust.

Several users have commented that the shoes run small so ordering a half size larger than your normal size is recommended.

Onitsuka Tiger Ally Style

The sporty casual vibe of the Onitsuka Tiger Ally, as well as the rich colors, will complement any outfit, especially shorts, khaki pants, joggers, yoga pants, and denim skirts. Slim and ripped or rolled jeans will pair up well with the shoes as do casual drawstring pants.

Notable Features

What makes the Onitsuka Tiger Ally silhouette very noteworthy is the excellent cushioning it offers wearers. This remarkable cushioning comes from the Asics fuzeGEL which is a gel-infused foam that absorbs shock and bounces it back in a big way for adaptable and lightweight comfort.

Onitsuka Tiger Ally History

Onitsuka Tiger is often used interchangeably with the Asics brand. Although belonging to the same company, Onitsuka Tiger represents Asics’ rich sneakers heritage while Asics is the more contemporary and tech-driven brand.

Onitsuka Tiger was revived in 2001 and since then has revisited many of the silhouettes that have made the company famous. One of these silhouettes is the Tiger Ally which is based on the Onitsuka Tiger Alliance. The Alliance was a jogging footwear that was launched during the fitness craze of the 80s. The silhouette was widely considered to be one the brand’s most successful designs since their founding in 1949. This retro silhouette was reissued in 2015 as part of J.Crew’s website relaunch.

The Onitsuka Tiger Ally, meanwhile, was recently released by the brand as part of their Spring Summer 2018 collection.
