Nike Tanjun Racer History

Following the success of the Nike Roshe Run, Nike introduced another silhouette with similar aesthetics in 2015 named officially as the Nike Tanjun. The name Tanjun translates to “simplicity” in Japanese, which is reflected through the shoe’s minimalist look comprised of a simple mesh upper accented with the signature Swoosh on both sides.

The simplicity of the Tanjun is something that should not be disregarded as it made the shoe a popular choice among sneaker enthusiasts with lots of positive responses. As such, the Tanjun became the most popular shoe in the US in 2017 according to the NDP Group’s retail data.

As the Tanjun continuously makes its presence relevant, Nike came up with a different take on its silhouette. The Swoosh eventually released a less bulky and more minimal look through the Nike Tanjun Racer. This version also features a textile or mesh upper that is not only comfortable and lightweight but is also breathable. Few of the significant differences, however, are the use of internal Flywire cables for a more secure and lockdown fit and a thinner tongue in the Tanjun Racer version.
