Good to know

The LunarCharge features a neoprene sock-like, slip-on construction that conforms to the feet while providing a locked-in and secure fit. There is also an additional pull tab on the heel that makes it easier to put on and off. Although more on the aesthetic function, the laces can be adjusted for a tighter fit depending on the wearer's preference.

The Nike LunarCharge is characterized by a low-top profile with a neoprene cleat-like structure. This old-meets-new Swoosh kick fuses five different Nike shoes, which only make it a flexible option regarding styling.

As a lifestyle model, it effortlessly suits any casual, sporty, or athleisure look when paired with slim jeans, jogger pants, and even casual shorts for men. Ladies, on the other hand, can wear it with leggings, slim-fitting jeans, culottes, maxi dresses, or shorts.

The Nike LunarCharge bears several distinguishable features drawn from the DNAs of other Nike silhouettes. However, one unique feature seen on this shoe is the laser-siped embossed "Nike" text on the midsole. Speckle details on its lateral side panels are visible in some colorways. Another notable feature of this shoe is the mesh toe box, which is incorporated not only as a design but also to allow foot ventilation.

The Nike LunarCharge is an old-meets-new silhouette inspired by four of the most iconic Swoosh sneakers ever created. Nike looked back at its archive, took design inspiration from each one of the four shoes, and combined these together to form the epic LunarCharge sneaker.

The four iconic Swoosh shoes behind the Nike LunarCharge are the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Flow, Nike Air Presto, and Nike Current.

The LunarCharge features a neoprene material, which is a nod to the 1988 Nike Air Flow. This form-fitting material comes in a cleatie construction, which, in fact, is a borrowed element from the Nike Air Presto. The noteworthy eyestays, on the other hand, is from the classic Air Max 90 while the wide shape of the silhouette comes from the 1990 Air Current. A cushioning system that was first presented in the Nike LunarEpic, the Lunarlon cushioning, is also incorporated.

Nike officially introduced the LunarCharge in 2016 in a combination of black, white, and gray colorway with some hints of speckled design. New other colorways were released after for both men and women, allowing people to have more choices in grabbing a pair of the shoe. One of these other colorways is a triple black release, which features an all-black color scheme throughout from the tongue to the laces, midsole, and outsole.

The Nike LunarCharge Premium is a premium variation of the LunarCharge offered for both men and women. It features a suede paneling with hints of neoprene and synthetic material on the upper. The shoe also showcases some perforated detailing on its upper and a laser-siped Lunarlon outsole.

Another variation of the LunarCharge silhouette is the Nike LunarCharge Essential. In this iteration, the model features a suede paneling with a mesh toe box. Neoprene material also covers some parts of the upper. The whole design is finished off with a Nike branding that spreads on the laser-siped Lunarlon outsole.

  Nike LunarCharge “Black and White”

The Lunarcharge took the sneaker world by storm with its “black and white” introductory colorway. The innovative Swoosh low-top comes primarily in a black upper with different materials and textures. The toe area resembles a dot-like pattern with its neoprene material, while the white mudguard exhibits black speckled details. Also adding a perfect contrast are the white eyestays, as well as the mini Swoosh branding on the neoprene cleatie area. A crisp white, laser-siped sole unit, which is borrowed element from the 2016 LunarEpic model seals off its street-ready flair. The shoe’s official colorway is Nike LunarCharge crisp white/deep black.

  Nike LunarCharge Premium “Triple Black”

Following the highly anticipated launch of the Nike LunarCharge sneaker, Nike released a colorway that flaunts a tonal black color. Named as “triple black,” the shoe features a monochromatic black low-top from the upper, including the laces, down to the entire sole unit. Some liked this one better than the initial "black and white" colorway, noting that the monochromatic presentation highlighted the play of texture on the shoe. It is, undoubtedly, perceived instantly as stylish and a must-have. The "triple black" colorway of the contemporary hybrid Swoosh kick released on December 9, 2016.

  Nike LunarCharge Essential BN “Infrared”

The modern Nike silhouette looked back at one of the brand’s most iconic Air Max 90 colorways, the “infrared” for a design and color inspiration for its February 2017 release. The Nike LunarCharge “infrared” shadows the well-loved AM90 colorway with an off-white base upper, “infrared” accents on the heel tab and eyelets, solid black mudguard that perfectly contrasts the clean “Nike” laser-siped white midsole, and “wolf grey” neoprene midfoot panel overlays and laces. The AM90-inspired LunarCharge is available for both men and women for $140 a pair.

Nike WMNS LunarCharge Premium “Iced Lilac”

Officially known as the iced lilac/summit white/plum colorway, this Nike hybrid model exudes a lilac-based upper, tonal laces, white eyestays, and white LunarEpic sole unit. Other elements include a neoprene cleatie construction, suede overlays on the toe and heel areas, perforated toe box and side Swoosh, and a heel pull tab. Unlike the original LunarCharge model and its Essential variation, this Premium take lacks the speckled detailing on the mudguard. Each pair of this Nike hybrid retails for $140. The Nike LunarCharge Premium “iced lilac” released as part of the Nike LunarCharge Charge the City Collection.

  Nike LunarCharge Essential “Olive”

Retailing for $110 is another colorway in women’s sizing. The “olive” LunarCharge Essential from Nike features an almost tonal olive upper that is accentuated with a small Swoosh branding on the sides. The sole unit comes in a contrasting white color, while the signature speckled mudguard is still presented.

Nike WMNS LunarCharge Essential “Violet Dust”

Also released as part of the four-piece Nike LunarCharge Charge the City Collection is the "violet dust" colorway of the LunarCharge Essential variation. Like the "iced lilac" colorway, this one is a women’s only release and retails for $110 a pair. The shoe features different hues the upper, predominantly of “violet dust” color. The inner cleatie construction comes in black, which matches the heel tab and laces. A signature speckled mudguard feature can also be seen, as well as the breathable neoprene toe box. A crisp white LunarEpic sole unit completes the look.

  • The women’s and men’s Nike LunarCharge highlights a neoprene cleat construction for a snug fit and a laser-siped rubber outsole for grip. It is the first Nike shoe outside the running category to feature the laser profiled LunarEpic outsole.
  • A small Nike Swoosh is visible on the sides and the heel of the right shoe. The left shoe's heel part, on the other hand, displays the Nike text branding.
  • The unique lacing system is there, but it functions more on the aesthetics of the shoe.
  • English rapper Tinie Tempah was once photographed at the MTV EMAs sporting the then-unreleased yet Nike LunarCharge in the black and white colorway.
  • The Nike LunarCharge model has several versions including the Nike LunarCharge Premium, Nike LunarCharge Essential, and Nike LunarCharge Breathe (AKA Nike LunarCharge BR).
