Profile of the Nike KD 11

There is nothing that Kevin Durant can’t do on the court. He is one of the league’s most versatile and lethal scorers. Because of this, he needs a shoe that can keep up with his unpredictable style of play. The Nike KD 11 is up to the task with its all-new cushioning setup and light yet strong upper.

These Nike shoes are designed for the grind. It boasts a ridiculously responsive combination of Nike React and heel-to-toe Zoom Air that powers Durant’s every movement. The adaptive Flyknit upper offers stretch and support to keep him going all day.

Cushion. This incredibly responsive basketball shoe boasts a combination of Nike React foam and top-loaded full-length Zoom Air cushioning. This all-new setup offers superior responsiveness, impact protection, and energy return to keep your every move supported and energized.

Traction. The Nike KD11 has a rubber outsole with a wavy tread pattern that offers multi-surface traction. The outsole also extends up the sides of the shoe, cupping the foot to increase stability when making hard cuts.

Length and Width. Just like previous KD models, the Nike KD 11 reportedly runs long and narrow. Testers advise going down half a size for a snug one-to-one fit. However, because of the stretchy upper, they highly recommend trying these basketball shoes in-store for a better fit.

Lockdown. The KD11 is equipped with Flywire cables that lock the foot in place when laced up.

These KD basketball shoes are designed to deliver superior comfort and support. The Flyknit upper offers breathability, flexibility, and support exactly where it is needed. According to designer Leo Chang, “The Flyknit for Kevin is different from the Flyknit for LeBron and Kobe. They each need a different fit and feel. The KD11, in particular, uses yarns to create a lofted effect, which gives it plush padding and comfort. This is something we haven’t done before with Flyknit in Nike Basketball.”

The Nike KD11 boasts an updated tooling for a fresh look and feel. “For the tooling, we’ve created a perfect balance of plush ride and bounce,” Chang explains. “This doesn’t always happen; it really needs two materials to make it work.”

Durant also prefers a shoe that is comfortable and doesn’t need to be broken-in. “He likes the feel of the Flyknit Trainer and the Nike Epic React,” Chang describes. “Last summer, he loved the Air Sock Racer — that is where the collar of the 11 came from, and all the lofting in the tongue and quarter followed.”
