Who should buy the Nike Air Zoom Structure 24
The Nike Air Zoom Structure 24 is a must-buy for those who want a:
- stable daily trainer for recovery, daily, and long runs
- comfortable, very cushioned shoe that's built to last a long time
Who should NOT buy it
If you're looking for a lighter and more speed-ready option, you'll be better off with the Nike Pegasus 38. For a roomier toe box, don't pass up on the Nike Zoom Span 4. And last but definitely not least, get the Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit 2 if you want a breezy shoe for hot days.
Air Zoom Structure 24 vs. 23
Gathering feedback from runners, Nike has implemented the following updates on the 24th version of the Nike Structure series for a much more improved ride:
- for smoother transitions, the heel crash pad is overhauled;
- the mesh upper is more breathable and durable;
- to boost comfort and prevent socks from bunching up inside, the inner lining is made soft yet durable, and;
- for a secure fit, the lacing system is improved
Support that's not bothersome
Stability is what defines the Nike Air Zoom Structure 24. However, it's not the type of stable that runners find obtrusive. It just has the right touch of firmness to keep the foot in position. So much so, they don't actively think about it.
On top of this, the shoe also has a wide forefoot that provides great support. It is then taken a step further by the shoe's excellent and "secure fit without needing to readjust." Overall, many find it one of the most stable neutral shoes on the market.
Comfortable out of the box
According to experts, they don't have to break it in. They even compare it to the Brooks Ghost and Hoka Clifton when it comes to comfort. In essence, it's neither too mushy nor too rigid.
Contributing to the comfortable-upon-step-in sensation of the shoe is its padded upper and tongue. It wraps so softly; runners claim they can even go sockless. However, the downside to this is it feels "really warm" on hot days.
Toe box: Very Nike
Nike running shoes have always been known as narrow-fitting, especially in the toe box. And that doesn't change in this shoe. Those with wide feet find it too narrow to even feel comfortable.
A relaxed ride
This is how testers describe their experience with the Nike Structure 24. Contrary to the Nike Air Zoom Vomero 16, this shoe has "more flex grooves" in the forefoot that encourages natural foot bend.
Traction is AWESOME!
According to reviewers, it's one of their "favorite parts of the shoe. On both wet and dry pavement and light trails, it bites. Even better, the outsole is extremely durable. After 50 miles of rough wear testing, it shows little wear.
This said, long-time users expect it to last beyond 600 miles.
The Nike Air Zoom Structure 24 can weigh you down
At 312 g/11 oz. in US M 9, the Nike Structure 24 is definitely "not the lightest running shoe" on the market. For comparison, daily trainers weigh in at 286 g/10 oz., on average.
With its listed weight, it tips the scales. Some even find it "super heavy on foot"—a price to pay for the shoe's plush upper. Ultimately, the Zoom Structure 24's weight is what holds it back in uptempo runs.
