Good to know

Nike Air Max Guile sneakers are offered in women’s and men’s sizes. You’re not limited to your gender while picking out colorways that suit you. Simply remember that there is a size difference of 1.5 between the men’s and women’s versions, with the men’s models being bigger.

The shoes have ample cushioning and provide moderate arch support. Flat laces in a five-pair eyelet lacing system allow you to securely tighten or loosen the fit according to your liking.

What makes Nike’s Air Max Guile shoes so attractive is that they’re adaptable to almost any occasion and they look good on both men and women. Here are some style tips on how to wear these kicks:

Nike Air Max Guile men's shoes would look good when paired with a thin white shirt, a bomber jacket in a light brown or beige color, and ripped jeans. You can choose from the Nike Air Max Guile black, grey, or navy colorways for this outfit, although there are still more shades to choose from. For colder weather, match a dark polo shirt with an olive fleece jacket, dark blue jeans, and Nike Air Max Guile kicks in the cargo khaki colorway.

For women, a long-sleeved collared shirt in light blue, black pants, and Nike Air Max Guiles in pink and grey, white, or black colorways would look just the thing. During the cold season, match blue jeans, a pretty blouse, and a tan overcoat with Nike Air Max Guile in armory blue.

Of course, what would Nike Air Max Guile shoes be without the Air-Sole units which are the star of the show? The visible air units keep the shoes comfortable but light, able to see you through hours of action. It doesn't hurt that the sneakers have a top-notch retro style as well that enables the shoes to blend seamlessly with varied outfits, and excellent shades to choose from.

The story of the Air Max Guiles is the story of the Air Max. To know more about these recent releases is to dig into the past.

  Nike Air Max Shoes

Nike’s Air cushioning technology was first introduced in 1979, but it wasn’t until eight years later that the Air Max Is would be born. Nike’s Air Max Is used this air cushioning technology. The shoes were designed to not only give users a feel of the tech but to have them see it as well through visible air units in the midsoles.

These ground-breaking shoes were the design of a young architect named Tinker Hatfield, who would go on and design several other trailblazing shoes in the future. His inspiration for the visible air units came from the Centre Pompidou building in Paris, which he admired a lot. It was a skeletal structure where you can see everything inside from the outside.

The Air Max Is almost didn’t make it to production. The shoes were the topic of much debate inside the Nike headquarters—not many were convinced of the visible air idea, and some actually hated it. It was a good thing that Hatfield stuck to his guns and kept at it or the sneaker world as we know it would be vastly different today. When the Air Max I silhouette was finally released in 1987, the sneakers proved to be a huge success. The Air Mags featured in the cult movie, Back to the Future II, would further attract a following for the Air Max line.

The 1990s was a fruitful year for the Air Max. That decade saw the release of many Air Max models along with three iconic ones: the Air Max 90s, Air Max 95s, and Air Max 97s, each with a very different look. The Nike AM90s were inspired by the minimalist trend at the time, the 95s by the human anatomy, and the Nike Air Max 97s featured a streamlined, fluid design.

In the year 2000s, hip-hop stars were singing about the Air Max, making the shoes officially “street.” By 2013, the shoes gained another following, this time from the fashion world. Fashion designers and editors were spotted sporting Air Max on their feet, and some were collaborating with Nike on new Air Max iterations. If the shoes were “street” before, now they’re also quite the thing in fashion.

Towards the end of 2017, Nike added another Air Max model to its vast Air Max line. The Air Max Guile silhouette had a simplified design and minimalist look. The sneakers’ uppers featured a textured design, which took inspiration from the original Nike Air Max. The first release had a very subtle color of monochromatic grey mixed with white accents on the midsoles and Swoosh logos.

The old-school, low profile design made the shoes easily adaptable to any occasion, while the mixture of leather, suede, and mesh fabrics gave the shoes durability and adequate support.

  • Weight is around 369 grams per shoe.
