Good to know

The Nike Air Max 95 NRG, although considered as a men’s shoe, can be grabbed by either gender. The sneaker generally embodies the same feel as the classic Nike Air Max 95 due to its almost similar interior construction. Cushioning is also provided by the forefoot and heel Air-Sole units underneath.

Women should go down one and a half sizes from the men’s to obtain the optimal fit. These select Nike Air Max 95s are equipped with the same lacing system as their predecessors.

The Nike Air Max 95 NRG on feet would seem bulky-looking at first but would exhibit a different image in the long run. These silhouettes are surprisingly streamlined when worn and would undoubtedly go well with sporty clothes starting with joggers and leggings.

The Triple Black makeover perfectly complements the translucent Air-bubbles. Having a somewhat neutral-colored model like this is more accessible to partner with many clothes because it blends well and tends to highlight the rest of the apparel.

According to Nike, the sneaker supposedly mimics the human body with the spine, muscles, and ribs. Based on the Nike Air Max 95 NRG’s appearance, they truly pulled it off. With Nike's Move to Zero campaign, they made sure to lessen their carbon footprint by building the Happy Pineapple edition with a cork-infused insole and pineapple leaf fiber-infused leather upper.

When Sergio Lozano was tasked to create an Air Max sneaker, most of the company’s sales pressure was bestowed upon him. Thinking of ways to create something new yet appealing, he looked back on Tinker Hatfield’s words suggesting that every design has a story. Lozano asked himself, what would be the story of his next creation?

As he looked across the lake of Nike’s Beaverton headquarters, he saw the soil erode towards the water. Then he thought of something brilliant--what if he took inspiration from the layers and sediments of the Grand Canyon and put it into shoe design? Alas, he discovered the next big thing, or probably the most ingenious inspiration a Nike Air Max shoe had ever encountered. But it didn’t stop there.

To add contrast to the sneaker’s tectonic origin, Lozano added a human detail within its layers. The lace hoops were pulled out from muscles and bones found in the human anatomy when the skin was stripped off. The jagged edges of the sneaker were inspired by the jaw and mandible, to say the least.

For decades, Nike fans had been consistently appreciating the Air Max 95 silhouette, and the Oregon brand responded by giving the loyalists a platoon of colorways to choose from. In 2019, the sneaker was revamped into a triple black colorway that resembles leather jackets on top of fleece hoodies which was adequately called Nike Air Max 95 NRG. Soon after, the Swoosh came up with sustainable versions, which include the version made of recycled canvas released in August 2020 and the Pineapple reiteration released in June 2021.

  • Combinations of textile, leather, and mesh were used for the sneaker’s upper.
  • Cushioning is provided by the foam sole with inserted Air-sole unit on the forefoot and heel.
