Bottom line

The New Balance 750 v3 straddles the line between a competition shoe and a daily trainer. It is versatile enough to work both ways. Minus durability concerns and barely enough arch support, this is as good as any for those who are looking for a lightweight shoe with unbelievable comfort and traction.

  • The changes in the 750 series as seen in the 3rd edition can be summed up as making the shoe more breathable with more minimalist construction and providing superior grip on a multitude of surfaces. A lighter and woven mesh makes breathability better than any of the past versions while retaining its durability.
  • New Balance presents changes that will allow the shoe to fit better with the runner’s foot for more freedom of movement or natural running. Instead of a network of overlays, there is basically one rand that stretches from the forefoot to the heel. The support on the heel with this substantial overlay is adequate with just a hint of flexibility.
  • The whole outsole gets a total makeover as it now features a moderately-aggressive diamond with numerous nubs all over it pattern for better grip. These diamond-shaped lugs are bigger in the middle areas for enhanced bite on different surfaces.

New Balance offers standard fit and sizing in the 750 v3, which is basically the same as the prior model. Medium measurement in the heel, the midfoot, and the forefoot provides ample space for the feet to be comfortable. Available widths are D for men and B for women. Sizes are from 6 to 15 for the men’s and 5 to 12 for the women’s.

The outsole of this budget-friendly shoe is a solid rubber feature that uses a diamond pattern with larger configuration in the middle for better and versatile grip. To enhance the grip, New Balance placed numerous nubs all over the tread pattern.

Placed on top of the outsole is a firm and injection molded EVA. It adds underfoot protection and provides adequate cushioning and midsole durability. Sitting on top of this foam is the ACTEVA Lite, which is New Balance’s proprietary midsole element that consists of brand-exclusive materials. It is 24 lighter than regular EVA, but with superior responsiveness and durability.

The upper with minimalist tendencies uses AirMesh for excellent breathability while small synthetic overlays provide midfoot support. Stretching from the forefoot to the heel is a big rand that holds the shoe together and provides structure in the heel as well. A moderately padded collar and tongue enhance comfort and fit.
