Size and fit

With its stretchy mid-top collar, the New Balance 247 Mid offers good ankle protection. It's available in US men’s sizes from 4-14 in standard width. Women who want to purchase the kicks should go one and a half size down to find their size.

The shoe fits true to size. However, a lot of buyers have found that it runs about a half size small. The lace-up system keeps the fit tight yet adjustable. Its upper is made up of synthetic material and mesh, offering a flexible fit and molding to the foot for a comfortable feel.

New Balance 247 Mid Style

A monochrome look dominates the modern flair of the mid-top New Balance 247 Mid. It has a cozy vibe owing to its form-fitting mid-top collar, which is ideal for pairing with straight pants. Sweaters and jackets with a statement t-shirt underneath will showcase the sneaker’s urban appeal. Hoodies and track pants or skinny jeans are also an ideal match for the shoe’s laidback appearance.

Notable Features

With a lightweight textile and mesh upper, the New Balance 247 Mid promises to be a modern and functional companion out on the streets. On the sides is the New Balance logo for a classy appeal, along with a round toe design that is made of mesh for breathability. Monochrome stitching and paneling are maintained throughout the shoe for a sophisticated and sleek appearance.

On the classic white midsole is the REVlite label, while the New Balance 247 label is on the tongue. Subtly speckled shoelaces adorn the front of the shoe, while pull tabs on the heel assist in slipping the shoe on and off. The seamless tongue and collar make up a form-fitting sock designed for modern comfort. Ribbed detailing on the knitted mid-top collar provides a variation to the sneaker’s overall simple style.

New Balance 247 Mid History

In 1906, William J. Riley established the New Balance Arch Support Company. As its name implied, the company sold arch supports and other shoe accessories around Boston to help people get a better shoe fit. Riley’s first product was a three-point flexible arch support inspired by a chicken’s foot, which is where he also got the name as he claimed it offered a new kind of balance.

By 1960, New Balance would change ownership and begin producing its own shoes. The first sneaker that the brand introduced was the Trackster, which featured the first rippled sole ever on a running shoe. It was quickly picked up by several universities and colleges for their athletic teams. New Balance was also at the center of the jogging craze in the 1970s that started in Boston, helping the brand reach its current level of success and reputation.

Since then, the brand has been developing and producing practical shoes for sports and casual lifestyle. Even while frequently looking back at its archive for inspiration, the brand also proved to be adept at creating new silhouettes that fit today’s lifestyle. One perfect example is the New Balance 247. It takes inspiration from the brand’s classic models – the 574, 998, and 1300 – yet it offered a fresh perspective that made it an instant hit.

The 247 is a tribute to today’s go-getter lifestyle, in which men and women are ready to take on anything they are passionate about 24/7. Its global popularity has led to multiple editions, releases, and collaborations. One version is the winter-ready New Balance 247 Mid, which adds an elastic sock-like mid-top collar to provide better protection for the ankles. Several other updates were also added to improve the shoe in anticipation of the cold weather.
