Merrell Range Laceless AC+ History

More than 30 years ago, Randy Merrell, the founder of American footwear brand Merrell, began designing and manufacturing custom cleats for outdoor enthusiasts. In 1981, Randy partnered with former ski company executives, Clark Matis and John Schweizer, in creating high-performance hiking cleats at an affordable rate.

With the trio’s expertise, the brand began to take shape. The first Merrell product was launched in 1983. After 3 years, the company sold 250,000 pairs of cleats. But it was also in this same year that Randy sold his company shares to Kahru, which later sold Merrell to Wolverine World Wide.

Several years later, the company released a signature shoe called the Jungle Moc, which hit 3.5 million pairs by 2002. Merrell also introduced several other shoes as well as accessories and apparel. A slip-on sneaker was also launched by Merrell in the form of the Range Laceless AC+. It is packed with several features and technologies that make it a one-of-a-kind sneaker for every urban adventure.
