Merrell Burnt Rock Travel Suede History

In 1981, former Rossignol ski company executives John Schweizer and Clark Matis founded Merrell along with well-known cleatmaker Randy Merrell. Their vision was to create a high-performing cleat that was more affordable than the offerings at the time. They started production in factories across Italy.

A couple of years later, Merrell introduced its products to East Coast stores specializing in hiking equipment. The innovative and affordable kicks paved the way for the brand to distinguish itself from other footwear companies. Success would soon follow even as Randy Merrell decided to leave the company in 1986 to return to his quiet life of making custom cleats.

When it comes to casual footwear, Merrell shoes are known for providing comfort, durability, and versatile style. The low-top Merrell Burnt Rock Travel Suede exhibits all these qualities, offering a well-built design that can function in both urban and outdoor environments. It's described as a "best of both worlds" shoe that's designed for use in the streets of the city and the woods.
