Updates to Meindl Journey Pro GTX

  • Meindl’s Journey Pro GTX is part of the Comfort Fit collection. Its fit is wider than the standard fit of the brand.
  • Its nubuck and mesh upper is lined with Gore-Tex to render a waterproof, breathable and durable build. This construction grants a durable yet comfy performance.
  • Its midsole and Air-Active Wellness Sport footbed take care of underfoot cushioning and comfort. For surface traction, it employs the brand’s very own Comfort Sport sole. The sole unit is designed to promote the natural rolling motion of the foot with its tapered construction.

Size and fit

A fairly true-to-size day hiking shoe, the Meindl Journey Pro GTX caters to men and women. It is available in whole and half sizes and is offered in standard width. The lace-up closure of the shoe enables hikers to customize the fit. Additionally, the topmost part features two-holed eyelets to help adjust the shoe’s overall volume.

This hiking gear is shaped using the Comfort Fit last. It has a wide sole base and forefoot area which permits toe splaying. The back has a tapered fit to create a snug-fitting heel zone.

Outsole

The Meindl Journey Pro GTX features a Comfort Sport outsole (No. 77). It has a self-cleaning profile which channels water out and prevents the build-up of debris. This mechanism allows it to maintain its traction on varying ground conditions. An extension of this component is found in the toe area to grant protection against accidental knocks.

Midsole

This low-cut day hiking shoe employs the Air-Active Wellness Sport footbed for a supportive and comfy ride. It sits atop the shoe’s EVA midsole which serves as the shock absorber.

Upper

The upper of the Journey Pro GTX uses a nubuck leather. Mesh is used in specific areas of the shoe to promote breathability and comfort in arid outdoor conditions. The foot is protected from wet encounters through a Gore-Tex laminate.

The brand engineers added a layer of reinforcement on the toe and heel areas to deliver extra protection on rocky trails and enhance the shoe’s durability. Comfort is amplified by its cushioned tongue and collar. To manage fit, it uses webbing loops and two sets of metal eyelets at the top. A pull loop at the back of the shoe facilitates smooth on and off.
