Updates to Meindl Journey Mid GTX

  • The Meindl Journey Mid GTX belongs to the brand’s Comfort Fit line. It is a range of footwear with a fit that’s wider than the regular Meindl fit.
  • The upper is made of nubuck and mesh. The former is responsible for holding the shape of the shoe while the latter improves comfort. It is lined with Gore-Tex for weather protection and breathability.
  • Underfoot, it is equipped with an Air Active Wellness Sport footbed which provides cushioning and comfort. Rendering surface traction is the brand’s Comfort Sport outsole. The sole unit promotes the natural rolling motion of the foot.

Size and fit

The Meindl Journey Mid GTX is a day hiking boot for men and women. It comes in regular sizes and standard width. It generally runs true to size. Allowing users to customize fit is the shoe’s traditional lace-up closure.

This gear features the Comfort Fit last. It offers a spacious forefoot which allows toe splaying. Its heel zone, on the other hand, fits snug.

Outsole

The Journey Mid GTX from Meindl uses the brand’s very-own Comfort Sport sole (No. 77). The outsole extends upward at the toe area to provide a decent amount of protection on rocky terrain. Its lugs are widely spaced to prevent muck build-up.

Midsole

The EVA midsole of this mid-cut day hiking boot absorbs shock and cushions the foot. Atop this structure is an Air-Active Wellness Sport footbed which enhances comfort.

Upper

The Journey Mid GTX employs a combination of durable nubuck leather and breathable mesh for its upper. To further enhance comfort and yield protection against wet encounters, the boot is lined with a Gore-Tex laminate. There are vent holes situated near the ankle area, midfoot and forefoot which amplifies airflow in and out of the boot.

For extra security on the trails, the toe and heel zones of this day hiking boot are reinforced. Its padded tongue and collar, on the other hand, optimize comfort. Its lacing system is comprised of a round lace, webbing loops and metal hardware. Lastly, a pull tab assists wearers in easy on and off.
