Who should buy the Mavic Crossmax Elite
Built for the rugged wilderness, the Crossmax Elite uses features that make riding in rough terrains comfortable. It is a solid option if you:
- Need a shoe that has an outsole that is rigid for effective power transfer while pedaling but is also soft enough to grip uneven surfaces.
- Need a shoe that is created to deliver a close fit, preventing hot spots and heel lifts.
- Need a shoe that ensures that the foot is kept cozy and supported in any condition.
Energy grip terra outsole
The Energy Grip Terra Outsole adorns the bottom of the Mavic Crossmax Elite. This rubber compound is durable, withstanding abrasive surfaces. Contragip is used for the outermost part of the rubber lugs. It enhances the overall traction of the underside.
According to Mavic, it has an Index Energy Transfer of 40 over 100. It means that it is stiff to prevent power loss while pedaling but still offers flexibility for smooth toe offs during hikes.
Two-hole cleat system
The Crossmax Elite is fitted with a two-hole cleat system. It is compatible with the following mountain bike pedals: Funn Ripper, Crankbrothers Mallet E LS, Shimano XT M8020 Trail, DMR V-Twin, Nukeproof Horizon CS, to name some.
Protective and comfortable upper
The top of the Mavic Crossmax Elite is crafted from mesh and synthetic materials. The overlays provide structure to the upper. An extra strip reinforces the toe box against bumps and flying debris. The interior walls are lined with mesh, which also helps with temperature and moisture regulation.
Protecting the instep against pressure from the wires is the Endofit Tongue. It is shaped to hug the top of the foot and distribute the constraint created when tightening the cables.
Secure fit
Two types of closing mechanisms are found on the Crossmax Elite: the Ergo Dial QR and the Ergo Straps. The Ergo Dial QR is placed at the top and makes micro-adjustments possible with the slightest turn. There are two Ergo Straps on this model that allows users to customize the fit near the front. All these technologies can be quickly adjusted even while on the bike if needed.
Ergo fit 3D orthiLie sockliner
An Ergo Fit 3D OrthiLie sockliner is found inside the Crossmax Elite. This thin foam material conforms to the shape of the foot for maximum coverage and comfort. It prevents in-shoe slippage and aids in preventing moisture build-up and odor formation.
