Good to know
Keen Coronado III Slip-Ons come in men’s and women’s sizes. The model for men has sizes ranging from 7 to 14, while the women’s edition has measurements running from 5 to 11. The sizing can be inconsistent when compared to other Keen models, so it’s best to fit the shoes on first in a physical store to make sure you get an accurate fit.
The shoes do not contain enough ankle support owing to the absence of padding around the ankles. While they are excellent for every day casual wear, they won’t be ideal for long, extended walks or hikes.
These slip-ons have lightly-padded PU footbeds that are removable to accommodate your customized inserts if you need them.
These kicks carry a classic design that’s designed to take you anywhere. The minimalist styling coupled with the neutral, tonal colorways makes the shoes easy to pair with just about any ensemble, from casual to slightly dressed-up.
The shoes are covered with canvas fabric and contain enlarged toe bumpers that reach up to cover part of the toe caps. Most of the colorways feature two-toned midsoles and kickball-inspired outsoles.
The colorways for the women’s version of Keen Coronado III Slip-Ons are black, brindle, and white. The men’s come in navy, black (with solid black midsoles), and grey.
Keen has always been conscious of producing quality kicks that do not impact the environment much, so they have turned to tech that uses nature’s products instead of synthetic ones. This way, there is less risk of pesticides and biocides from going into Mother Nature.
Keen Coronado III Slip-Ons contain Eco Anti-odor footbeds that utilize probiotic technology to break down the odor in sweat. The sneakers are also PFC-free—chemicals that many companies use to repel water on outdoor gear—and instead use alternative chemistry to reduce carcinogens in the environment.
The first Coronado shoes came out in 2010. These hugely popular sneakers featured a comfortable and eco-friendly construction and an interesting laidback vibe. The metatomical footbeds were made of cork and recycled PU materials. The shoes’ uppers are of natural canvas, and the eyelets are made of recycled aluminum.
Coronado IIs were released a year later. These shoes still contained many of the elements found in the first Coronados except that this time, the canvas uppers were mixed with a bit of nubuck.
The third edition of the Coronado series came out eight years later in two styles—lace-ups (Keen Coronado III) and slip-ons (Keen Coronado III Slip-Ons). Both utilized pure canvas for the uppers and vulcanized soles to reduce the use of solvents. Modern upgrades were also thrown in.
