Hanwag Ferrata II GTX vs. the first Ferrata GTX

• The Hanwag Ferrata II GTX has enough technical features that gives wearers the performance they need for taking on challenging mountain adventures. It has a waterproof laminate that provides weather protection.
• This boot is the direct successor to the first-generation Ferrata GTX. It comes with a lightweight sole unit called TubeTec Rock, making it less weighty than its predecessor by about 10%. This boot is also now on the lighter side of the scale as Hanwag designers used Cordura fabric and less leather in its upper.

Traction that can take a beating

Giving users the capability of gaining ground with adequate slip and skid resistance is the Ferrata II GTX’s durable Vibram outsole.

Since it is made with Vibram’s Mont compound, this sticky component works and performs in considerably cold conditions.

It is engineered with toothy lugs for enhanced surface traction on slippery surfaces. It is also built with a climbing zone at the forefoot that bolsters the user’s stability during edging maneuvers.

Hanwag Ferrata II GTX: Made to keep you steady

The Ferrata II GTX gives footing balance and adequate cushioning with its midsole made of polyurethane. It is engineered with a tube-like TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) frame which provides extra durability and stability.

For additional comfort underfoot, on the other hand, the boot comes with a cushy insole.

Supportive from top to bottom

This Hanwag mountaineering boot wraps the foot in its part fabric (courtesy of Cordura), part leather upper. It has a sturdy rand covering its base for abrasion protection.

Its main bootie is built with a Gore-Tex waterproof membrane which shields the foot from virtually all sorts of watery elements. A Hanwag technology called LFX is applied to the ankle zone of the boot, making it amply flexible for freer lateral movements.

Finally, completing the upper is the boot’s closure system which consists of synthetic lace and combination eyelets.
