Size and fit

The Trail Fuse GT by Haglofs is a low-cut hiker designed for men and women. It uses a standard lace-up closure for easy adjustment of the fit.

Outsole

The shoe outsole is made from a durable rubber. It features engineered trail-specific lugs that offer strong traction uphill or downhill. Nevertheless, it’s still suitable for off-trail surfaces, such as city streets and urban grounds.

Rubber outsoles have unique qualities that make them suitable for hiking. Primarily, they are slip-resistant. This is very important to prevent injury as even well-maintained trails can have slippery, rough, and uneven surfaces. Rubber soles are also long-wearing and can survive almost any condition.

Midsole

The Trail Fuse GT features a supportive midsole made of EVA. This material has several strengths in terms of protection and comfort. First off, EVA is naturally cushiony as it is made of thousands of tiny bubbles that hold air. This results in increased shock absorption or that ‘bouncy’ effect when making aggressive movements.

Another unique feature of this hiking shoe is the ASICS GEL cushioning. This technology consists of silicone gel placed under the rearfoot and forefoot. It works by absorbing impact during a heel strike or forward movement.

Upper

The shoe upper is constructed using synthetic materials. It is a noticeably stylish shoe that makes it suitable for casual activities around the town.

There are mesh cages on the vamp and sides for added protection and breathability. The outer surfaces are treated with a water-repelling compound (which is eco-friendly) while the insides of the shoe are lined with the Gore-tex membrane which is completely waterproof.

Since Gore-tex consists of nanoholes, shoes with this lining tend to be less breathable. Good thing, the Haglofs Trail Fuse GT has a low shaft so your feet don’t feel trapped. Furthermore, there are reinforcements on the sides, as well as the toe and heel areas for added protection and durability.

Completing the upper is the gusseted tongue that prevents dirt and water from getting in, and a traditional lacing system with round laces.
